Location: Ottawa , Canada | I am considering my first Ovation - the pinnacle is about 1/2 the price of the 1771 (op24) any opinions.
Thanks

Location: Tennessee | I personally think the Pinnacle series are great guitars for the money. They are the best Ovations you get get from Asia. Quality solid tops and excellent workmanship. What vintage/model Pinnacles are you looking at? Some early ones were made in Japan and were especially good.
That said, you'll never go wrong with a Balladeer. |

Location: Ottawa , Canada | Thanks - 386T - Japan is the Pinnacle
For $150 over the 1771 - there is an 1869 legend avail also. Is the water getting clearer or murky hahahha.
Thanks for your help.

Location: Tennessee | Rick ... the 386 is a super-shallow bowl, and while no doubt great plugged in, a mid-depth or deep bowl is generally better for pure acoustic tone (the exception always proves the rule). The 1869 is a Custom Legend ... and at $150 over a Balladeer is a no brainer (assuming good shape of course!). But it too is a shallow bowl ...
Uh. Murkier. |

Bit the bullet and bought the Pinnacle as a start that I can sell.
I like the shallow bowl for practice - which "I" need lots of hahaha.
Judging by your input I may take a harder look at the 1869 after playing the pinnacle - it's coming in off Ebay. the 1869 is local hahahah. |
