I know we do a good job of helping each other out with 'what is my O worth?' type questions (most of the time). But, what about other brands? I have a line on a used Heritage Prospect Standard (yes, still jonesing for a jazzbox) for a reasonable amount, but I have no idea what they're worth. There are none currently on offer on feeBay, and only one recent completed auction. Having been a real estate appraiser in a previous incarnation, one comparable does not a market make. GearPage and Gbase aren't much more helpful (or actually a little less).

So, when you're looking at a non-O, or another brand you're not initmately familiar with, where do you go to get an idea of value?

Thanks, Jeff. $5 up front to save $750 is a good deal. ;)

the problem with Orion is that it reflects what a store would be able to sell within ? 90 days...would have to look up one of their printouts but believe it is 90 days. Again, a brick and mortar store.

eBay changes all of that...more potential bidders, yet potential buyer not being able to visually check it out, etc.

as the measure of what it is worth is based on what someone will buy it for - first step is determine how you will sell it (for most of us it is the OFC or eBay.) If eBay, what have similar sold for in the last 90-120 days? probably a better reflection of what your guitar is worth.

Since the topic of value on other makes has been brought up, any feedback on a Guild DCE-1 True American, built in Westerly, RI would be appreciated. It is used, hanging in the local music store. Very sweet player, asking $440. Would become my daughters daily player. One just went on eBay @ $450, 1 bid. No other data points.

Thanks

A local Music-Go-Round (Novi, MI) has a very nice clean used 2-to-4-year-old Heritage jazzer (like ES-175) that they are asking $1400 for. It has a cool tobacco sunburst, with a matching pickguard.

Only way I know to check value is the web, local shops, or blue books. More than once I've thought one or more of them was "smoking something" on a guitar's value.....
