Location: East Wenatchee, WA | Well, I just broke down and bought a Tascam 2488. My wife has been bugging me to start recording again (I am really not that good, but it is fun doing my own stuff none-the-less), so when I discussed buying one of these, she blessed the acquisition.
Anyway, does anyone have any personal experience with these puppies and care to share.
I will likely be working with my Roland XP60 for sequencing the accompaniment, but do play a fair bass and can keep the beat on my vintage Ludwig black pearl kit.
I have some 25 year old EV and Shure studio mics that are nice and flat. Guitar will be my Carvin DC400 with (with piezo option) and my gorgeous 1537 (you guys always pretend like you know what they are... :D ).
I appreciate any and all thoughts on the topic.

However, I had a LOT OF FUN with my unit and there is one piece of advice I can offer. READ THE MANUAL AND FOLLOW THE EXAMPLES.....do it 3-4 times before you attempt anything on your own.
Learning the basic operation of your Tascam and learning it well, will save you hours of grief and make for a much more enjoyable experieince!
Good Luck and we can't wait to hear the results!

Tascam make some great Recording units. You might comsider getting yourself a good condensor mic or two. Maybe an AKG 3-300b. Akg also has some new models in the recording line up. Great for recording Instruments and vocals too.
