Location: Germany | The seller ob this FD14 says that there were made 50 for the US market, 8 for the German market and maybe some for other countries. These international FD14s seem to have no serial # (like the xx/50 numbering for the US market). Can somebody confirm that?
Karl

I have no information where the 25 exports went, or that they did or did not have xx/50 numbers. FD14 is THE best sounding wood topped Ovation guitar that I have ever heard. I would never sell mine. You should do every thing possible to get that guitar. Sale your children if you must, you won't regret it. |

Dave and Jeff,
you both own FD14 and Folklore 6774. Compared to the 6774 the neck of the FD14 is narrower. Is it wide enough to to play finger picking style?

Location: Phoenix AZ | Karl, Don't waste your time asking questions. Just buy this FD14 and don't look back. It is one the best freaking guitars that Ovation has ever made. And it's available to you right in Germany. Don't ask questions, just buy it. Yes, the FD14 neck is slightly narrower than the 6774. So what? Is it good for finger picking? Hell yes. I go back and forth between 1-7/8, 1-13/16, and 1-3/4 and have no problem with any of them. BUY IT, MAN !!!

Now, just buy the damn thing!!! |

Location: Connecticut | I still have # 38/50 available that I offered to OFC members around the time of the factory tour.If there's no real interest it will probably end up on ebay when I get a chance to list it.I'm looking to get a nice F-5 style mandolin and this guitar and a few other things must go first. I wanted $750 and still do.They really do sound nice. |

I totally argee with the rest of the OFC gang...sell your car and start hitchhiking, pull the gold crowns out of your jaw or cancel all Christmas shopping for the next three years - but make sure you snipe the winning bid!!!
In 30+ years of Taste-Testing guitars - the FolLore D' is the Major Orgasm of all Acoustic Electric experiences!
I'll e-mail your wife with any additional endorsements you think might be necessary... ;) |

Unfortunately, I played up the 1537 and now that I got it, my wife had to get new carpet. That's how these guitars always cost me twice as much as they are worth. |

All joking aside. Got the FD14 yesterday and couldn't put it aside. Boys, they don't tell stories! This guitar is tremendous! The cedar top makes a very special ringing and swinging. And I was surprised that it's the loudest guitar I have. I go with all people saying this is the best sounding O. I like all the other Os and non-Os I own. But if I could keep only one it would be the ..
Excuse my interrupting. It's time to take the FD14 and play a tune for my wife. I think I will play "No woman, no cry" ;)

Why is that we always fall in love with the stuff that isn't made anymore? Would we all still be going ga-ga over the FD14 if it was available by the thousands? I've probably had a bigger boner than anyone over this guitar for the past few years, but I often wonder how much the mystique and rarity of the instrument effects my opinion. Naw, that's stupid - the FD14 just sounds freaking great and that's all there is to it. Yes, like almost everyone who own's them says, it will be the last guitar I ever part with. Dave |

My wife has been noticeably less vocal about my GAS since I played that one for her. It's really easy to play if you ignore all the tabs and just uses 4 barre chords with variations of them. |
