does anyone know what kind of material this is and is it better than a wooden neck also does it look like wood i have a cc028s and it seems to have a wooden neck...never heard of nato..

Good question. I think Nato is a wood, but I'm not sure. I'm curious now that you brought up the subject. Let's hear what the experts have to say.

Definitely a very good question. I asked the same question about 1 and 1/2 years ago, and the only answer I got was that it belongs to the mahogany family, or a type of "lower caste" mahogany ... something like that. :confused:

If my memory serves me correctly, someone even managed to be humorous about it, by writing that NATO was the acronym for "Not Actual Tonewoods Obviously." :D

Either way, it left me with more confusion than answers, and left it at that ...

Nato is also called eastern mahogany.

It is less expensive (more abundant) than true mahogany.
