This is my new guitar. It is on its way. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/content/cpd=0OEY?base_...
It has 24 frets and yes it is RED. I should have it by next week. It is a Les Paul double cut. Now I have 3 electrics.

Good guitar. You'll be happy with it. Not as happy as you woulda been if you had bought a Hamer, but still happy. Give us a full report when you get it.

I just noticed that the link takes you to the amber color. Hit previous and you see the red one I bought. I never held a hamer. Look cool though.

You have to tell, what made you pick this guitar?
You could've gotten an Ibanez RGA 121, or a Hamer Sunburst SATQ, or even a Fender American Series Tele, or a whole host of others. Just curious.

I have always wanted a Gibson. I have never really wanted one of the others you mentioned.

That was the simple answer. I find this guitar estetically pleasing (very beautiful). It has a slim fast neck with 24 frets and a 17 degree tilt that makes it even funner to play than my viper. For me to say that about any guitar means alot. It has some great pickups that provide a wide array of tones. It is also heavy which to me is a must in a solidbody.

Very nice guitar ... congratulations! Designwise, it looks like a PRS. Perhaps, design was based on it, or the other way around?

an4340, I looked up the Ibanez RGA121. I could have gotten 2 of those for the price of this. It just isn't my style of guitar. It looks like the pointed end that holds the strap is so thin it might break. It is really design for heavy metal, which I don't play. The Hamers do look competative to this. I never held nor played one though. However I fell for this guitar and had to have it.

OLJ, that guitar is very similar to my Hamer Mirage II. Red transparent, double cutaway, carved maple top, mahogany body, humbuckers, and a sweet neck. The differences are dots vs. trapazoids, trem vs. fixed bridge, chrome vs. gold. You're gonna love that guitar ... you would love the Hamer, too. Congrats.

That's a beautiful guitar. What type of humbuckers does it have? Many of us like the Hamers because of the factory tour. That Gibson is a beauty. Let us know how it plays and sounds when you get it.

It's a safe bet the Gibson will be a pleasure.

But there are so many other guitars out there to try. Don't let the description of the Ibanez fool you, they push it as a metal instrument, but the reality is it's better than a Gibson. If you look at it, 24.75 scale, dual humbuckers, mahogany body, maple top ... try it you'll like it.

I know how it is though, GAS attacks and that's it.

I always like looking at guitars that are slightly different, that give value for $, I suppose that's why I wound up loving Adamas and ovations. Something different, or bought used, always has a more interesting story.

The guitar arrived 3 days ago. It is going back. There a 24 frets but there might as well have been only 12. The action is too high. I adjusted it to were it is closer to my range( still can't get it perfect) and now there are dead spots up and down the neck. The guitar is chambered for some dumb reason. So this is nowhere like a Les Paul standard in weight nor feel. I hate it.

I agree with the other posts here. Gibson are fine guitars (I have several),but there others that are also fine guitars. I have a 78 Hamer Sunburst that is great. Also check out Heritage and PRS. Great guitars don't have to say "Gibson" on them.

This one sure isn't great and it says Gibson on it and the case. I am not buying anymore guitars without holding the very guitar and playing it first. It looks good though.

My friend BrianT is a notorious send-it-backer. (Not that there is anything wrong with that) He has never had a problem.

Better to pay the freight then to live with something you don't like. Besides...think about all the gas you did not have to use to shop around in the first place.

I would agree as well. Though not a "notorious send-it-backer", I have for the very reason Brad stated. I've played what I thought was a beautiful, well made and superior sounding guitar that I saw "less expensive" online - got it and it was obviously made on Friday afternoon after the (liquid) lunch break. Back it went. Went to my local GC, negotiated that one down a hair and went home with a great guitar.

Good money should pay for a good guitar and there are lemons in any industry. And that's fine - as long as I don't end up with it. ;)

You shouldn't either.

My local GC will match ANY Price as long as they can verify it. I have even carried in "special low price" only available through an email request (printed out the email) and they have honored it.

Just find the guitar you want online, print it out and then find one at the local GC that talks to you and then whip out the paperwork for the price match!

This is great. I mean it sucks, but it gives you a new chance! Try one of the other guitars, either of those will fill your guitar jones. You can have your local guitar center order them for you, if not in stock, try them, and then return them on the spot for a full refund. And you won't have to mess with the shipping! Please try them!

Guitar Center owns Musician't Friend and will usually match any online price. The one here won't take back a guitar bought off Musician's Friend, though. My daughter got one with a problem from MF and had to send it back. They got it fixed, but she paid a bunch for shipping 3 times.

Strange, the one time I sent something back MF paid the shipping. They emailed me a prepaid shipping label.

Last time I returned something to MF they sent me a return label inside the box with the replacement.

Reshipment was also free. This was within the last year.

I have/had my share of doing business with MF. In the past, I normally purchase accessories (e.g. microphone cables, bulk strings) ... basically small items where I don't have to worry about returns and such.

1 1/2 weeks ago, I purchased a LX1E at MF as a present for my sister this Christmas. It arrived at my door step (via UPS) two days ago, and after nearly a day in room temperature, I took it out of the box to try it out. I was surprised at the sweet sound and playability of this little baby, and the set-up was nice and low fresh out of the box. No buzzes and dead notes either. Plugged in, it sounds like a full-size guitar. The only difference that the LX1E has -- compared to my current LXM -- is that is has a solid spruce stop and a Fishman preamp. It also has a much brighter sound. Other than that, the rest of the guitar's anatomy is made of the same composite materials.

Other than a receipt for the sale, there is no return shipping form attached anywhere. That means, if I have bad news with this guitar, I'm basically SOL and have to pay the shipping myself? *knock on wood* I must've gotten lucky so far.

I put the baby back in the shipping box, and just finished wrapping it with a bow as a finishing touch. My sister will be one happy camper in two weeks, when I hit the road to visit my family in Syracuse for the holidays. :)
