Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | Wow! They still got it! Jack Bruce was interesting, as he and Baker were out of the lime light for years. Clapton's guitar work with the Cream, was his best. It's amazing how with 3 guys playing, they keep the flow and energy of each piece strong. You notice that Clapton really didn't change his guitar during the show, except for "Rollin ans Tumblin" which was open tuning. His strat looked like it had some miles on it. |

Location: Tennessee | Missed it. Was it the Royal Albert Hall show from earlier this year? I saw some of that on an airline flight a few weeks ago and I was stunned at how good Jack Bruce looked and at how old Ginger Baker looked. Clapton was Clapton. But they sounded great on the few songs I watched. |

Bruce to me looked like the years have taken its toll.He spent a lot of time sorta sittin' in a chair(when not singing).Nonetheless, a great concert. Glad they decided to do it. Would've been a shame to let the chance go by.Nice interviews, too.

Location: Midland, MI | I saw it. Wasn't around in 66, so I can't comment. I can say, however, that Ginger Baker can play the shite out of a set of drums for being in his 60s. And Jack Bruce still has the voice that I remember listening to on Disreali Gears/Fresh Cream back when I was a youngster just getting out of New Wave and into classic stuff. They played pretty tight, which is amazing, given how 'loose' modern pop acts play (when they actually play). That being said, I don't think Clapton put a ton of effort in; at least not compared to Baker and Bruce. But, it was a great show and I'm glad I watched it. |

Nothing unusual for me, but I do remember listening to their music back in the day, wondering how Ginger Baker could play drums that well, and Clapton's guitar work was brilliant. I still like listening to their music even today. If Clapton didn't look like he was making as much of an effort as the others, that's just typical Clapton, he makes it look efffortless. :) |

My brother-in-law asked me how I thought they played, so I told him Baker was out of his mind on drums, Bruce can still tear up 'Spoonful' and the harmonica on "Rollin' and Tumblin'" and Clapton is still god on guitar (little g god). ;) |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | I caught it a couple of nights ago. Cool show that evoked mucho nostalgia (I saw them on their first American tour and stood, transfixed, about 25 feet from Clapton). My only complaint about the PBS show is the mix. I could barely hear the guitar.
There are obviously better guitarists, bassists, and drummers, but what was magic about Cream -- as with perhaps all great bands -- is the synergy. My $.02 |

Location: Flushing, MI | We've been discussing this show over at the Telecaster board. Everyone is pretty much appalled at the overly compressed tone that Clapton was sporting throughout the show. The reason is the mid-boost that's built into his guitar. One may assume it's Eric's attempt at approximating a Gibson tone, while remaining with the Stratocaster.
Other than that, I thought ol Eric played wonderfully!
I did notice that Jack Bruce vocals seemed rather weak, although still not bad at all. Afterwards I found out that he'd undergone a liver transplant operation a couple of years ago, and apparently there were some complications.
Everyone played like the glory days of old, except that I thought that they played a little more solid than before. In their old days, they would tend to meander all over the place. They seemed much more focused now. |

I do like a lot of Cream's songs, but not enough to buy more than their greatist hits album. I've tried to get into to Clapton's music, but it just doesn't move me for whatever reason. |
