Location: Upper Left USA | Over on the Tacoma site someone offered a reward for the best (your guitar) twisted Christmas Carol.
I will offer a TRC, Solid body wood veneer pickguard, or whatever for the most ingenious tune relating to our site!
1 - List the real tune
2 - Write the lyrics
I will start:
aka Santa Claus is coming to Town - a packaging primer!
Oh, you better watch out You better think twice
Before shipping guitars in the snow and the ice!
Finish cracks keep growing along!
Ship overnight when the winter is long
Fed Ex is fine (but your profits all gone)
stuck between two engines - hold on!
You shouldn't ship it postal It's in the Jeep too long!
Don't even think about U P S
It's in a truck all weekend long
Oh, slacken the strings and pad up the neck
Popcorn stinks and duct tape holds best.
Pack it like it belonged to Your Mom!
Fleas Naughty Dawg and Merry Christmas to all! |

What style is this
What could it be
An Ad-am-as
Or Celebrity
There are so many
Styles you see
Ask Al to clear up
The mystery
(Chorus)
Im-port or U-S-A
Deep bowl or shallow, they all will play
6 string and 12 string too
I love a slot head, now how ‘bout you?
I love the axe
Glenn Campbell played
And all the classics
That Kaman made
When Croce played
My heart stood still
I love Ovation
And always will
(Chorus) |

Away At Ovation
Away at Ovation
They strum all the day
Except for the pickers
Who bounce as they play
The Balladeers low E
Rings out 'cross the hall
While the Storm series T-head
Makes no sound at all
The Glen Campbell Models
Pick straight triple time
While the Josh White has faded
Playing soft background lines
The Adamas 12 string
Rings orchestral chords
While the Elite Bass holds down
The bottom, quite bored
I love thee, Ovation
All models and styles
May your loud voice continue
Through years, hearts, and miles.

If I may offer:
On the First day of Christmas, Al offered up to me
A Baritone Adamas 12 string
“ “ “
Two sets of Strings
Three French Adamas
Four Ukuleles
Five broken strings (let it ring!)
Six Elixer Packs
Seven Custom Legends
Eight Mandocellos
Nine FRG’s
Ten Vipers singing
Eleven Deacons playing
Twelve Tube amps humming |

Strum and Chime
Dashing through the tunes
On a neck that's thin and fast
Plucking bass and lead
As the waitressess drift past
The audience is drunk
The manager looks bored
Playing fast as best I can
1 Finger open chords
OH....
Strum and chime
Strum and chime
Singing Christmas tunes
I just can't wait
For sun and sand
And Beach Boys Songs in June!
Okay, except for the 'thin-fast neck' it's not especially about Ovations; but you go where the muse takes you......! :p |

O nuts strumming in an open chord
Pickers plucking on the strings
Roundback guitars being played by the pros
While folks like us just have a dream
Funny how it seems the Martin and the Taylor boys
Think their instruments excel
So they laugh at our crass plastic toys
It Christmas so let's wish them well
We know Ovations have the tone,
And that's why Santa Clause has got one
there at home
When he's not bringing gifts to little scamps
He plays his bright red Custom through an amp
And so this holiday make someone smile
Have fun and sing a song or two.
Remember to play, if you can, every day.
Merry Christmas to you |

PLAY AN 'O'
The fuses have all been popping
The band is all for stopping
But the dancers all want to go
Play an O, play an O, Play an O
The songs sung 'round the bonfire
As we all sound like a bad choir
As the fire burns way down low
Play an O, Play an O, Play an O
When we finaly pack it up
And head off home, where it's warm
My hot chocolate in one big cup
Then I can plug in my Storm!
The party is slowly dying
the guests are all goodbying
But the band is too drunk to know
Play an O, Play an O, play an O |

Frail & Claw
I saw Tim C. playing frail and claw
At the OFC meet late last night
He didn't see me sneak
Up behind to have a peek
At the bald spot hiding
Underneath his Turban -eek!
When I saw Tim C. playing frail & claw
At the OFC meet late last night
What a gas it would have been
If "O" made banjos for heem........(bad spanish)
For Tim to scare stephen 28!
featuring
Tim Chapman on banjo
And stephen 28 on "If we live in fear of banjos, then the banjos have won. "
Really though, why doesn't Ovation make a banjo? Would the increase in volume do real physical damage? |

Play An 'O'
The guitar-pull is truly frightful
But musicians are so delightful
If you want to be heard well, though
Play an O, Play an O, Play an O
The jam will not be stopping
Even as strings are popping
The sweat in the eyes burns so
Play an O, Play an O, Play an O
When we finally get our chance
And step out 8 bars for a solo
We'll cut through the whole mid-range
Like an elephant stomping through polo
The session is slowly ending
Notes are long and bending
But it's loud even way down low
Play an O, Play an O, Play an O!oooooooo |

Forgot I'd already written something to 'Let it Snow' when I posted today. I need another melody..
.. like I need another hole in the head!
..............................................
If I wasn't doing this in between writing ad copy I'd make a list of famous ovations and players there-of and try to tell the whole ovation story in one song. Did Dylan ever write a 36 verse Christmas song?
Maybe I could adapt Lightfoots 'Canadian Railroad Trilogy!' Yeah, the world's waiting for THAT! |

Adamas We Have Heard on 'HI'
Adamas we have heard on hi
cranked up from the choir loft
Psalms, and hymns, and gentle sighs
Over snores and nervous coughs
Sustai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ain
Its notes last longer than a breath
Sustai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ain

Old Ovations
Should Old Ovations
Bought and sold
And polished 'tull they shine
Be played in ways
That light your days
Like days of rose and wine
Like days of rose and wine
My friends
Like days of rose and wine
Should Old Ovations
Often Play
Like days of rose and wine
We almost have enough tunes here for a themed album! |
