Applause AA13 versus Trekker?

Joined: December 2005 Posts: 4 Location: Mississippi Hello, I'm looking for a 3/4 size Ovation for my 11 yr old son and the logical choices appear to be the AA13 or AE13 Applause, and CC012 Trekker. I cannot seem to get any good advice relative to the key differences, and a recommendation as well? Can anyone help? Many thanks for a reply! Joined: August 2002 Posts: 8307 Location: Tennessee I've had both for my boys, a AE13 and the Trekker I had was a CS212 (which is probably the same). The Trekker was a much better guitar all the way around, and the sound was far better due to the mid-depth bowl. Played better too. The Trekker has all of the appointments of a Celebrity Deluxe while the AE13 has the appointments of a ... well ... bottom of the line Applause. Both have proven to be indestrucible, although the Trekker did develop the dreaded lacquer crack. The Trekker is about double the price, but if money is no object, go with the Trekker.
