Location: Chicagoland | So today I felt like plugging in an electric and rocking out. My main guitar, a strat, was in an alternate tuning ( CFCGCF, an odd one if ever), so I grabbed my Preacher, which I haven't played in quite awhile.
Needless to say, I'm a fool for staying away for so long, and I've fallen back in love.
However, the problem that led me to mostly shelve it still existis: the pickups are somewhat microphonic, and I cannot play the guitar at gigging volume without horrible screeching. Potting the pickups seems like the logical course, although I've never done it before.
I was wondering if anybody had potted Preachers and/or could offer tips or suggestions.
Thanks. |

Obviously there is a whole side of this Ovation world that I am totally unaware of. Until I joined this forum I had no idea that Ovation made solid bodies or basses.
I did have a red guitar called an Ovation Celebrity that was a Korean import. Horrible action, but sounded okay. Sold it for $100 but now wish I would have kept it just to say I own two 'O's |

"It's easy to get this wrong & ruin the pickups,"
What are things that can go wrong?
I found this to be useful, I think. |
