  | Beautiful - and don't Ovation do a sunburst as good as anybody out there? And way better than most. |

Location: SoCal | Let's see.... back in the early 70's, the price for a GC Artist was $365. I think that went up to about $460 with a p/u........

I played this new/retro GC Artist in CT in June. Damned fine guitar. |

Location: Campbell River, British Columbia | Not being that into the tech-specs on these things I can't see any difference between the 1627 and my 1612 deluxe Balladeer. (apparently it's the bracing)

This is still my favourite go-to guitar. So the GC 1627 is probably great too.

(Really, has Ovation ever made a bad guitar? Tacky, maybe. But not bad!) |

Location: Fayetteville, NC | I hope they make enough so that people who want to buy them can save the money to get it. Because it's a limited run, my guess is it'll push the price up. the GC12 was one of my favorites and i've wished that i still had that 12 string everyday for at last the last 10 years. |

To answer some of your questions, first, the 1627 is a middepth bowl and this one has the A bracing pattern. Your 1612 (it's a custom balladeer, not a deluxe balladeer)is a deep bowl and has the X bracing pattern. Different sounds on different guitars.

I can understand why you're happy with your custom balladeer. It's a terrific guitar.

But has Ovation every built some stinkers? Hell yes. No guitar builder out there has escaped that fate. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | The original 1627 was Artist depth. Is this re-issue Artist or Mid ??? Artist is slightly shallower than mid. When Artist was first introduced it was called the Shallow bowl. Dave |

  | on the GC12 anniv...... what is there about it that is different from the original? When you look at the specs, are there any parts they improved on, or is there anything they should have improved on for the anniversary issue? |
