Usually around christmas season you see a lot of guitar transactions on ebay for obvious reasons.I dont think i have ever seen guitars go so cheap before..A nice adamas(red burst)closed and sold on ebay for around 1175.00 a few days ago.Almost no interest from anyone.I could not believe it.A beautiful mint martin D-45 with custom burst finish closed and sold for $3995.00.This guitar lists for arond $9000.Now im on ebay and i see this martin go for 1/3 its list price of $6000..Am i wrong or are guitars really cheap right now?

This guitar should sell for $1000 more.It lists for $6000

Listing removed by Ebay. Mayhaps it wasn't completely legitimate?

If you're in the Midwest, and especially in the U.S. auto industry, it's a "grinch" of a Christmas. People are hanging on to their money, guitars are not on their minds, for sure. My company has already announced sizeable layoffs coming in January, so many people are extremely nervous right now.

Roger-

Sorry to hear that, hope you're not one of them. I think the economy in MI is headed for some serious turmoil. =\

Ditto on hoping Roger's job is secure....

In my eBay experience of 7-8 years, the pre-Christmas season is a seller's market for good gift guitars and a buyer's market for collectables and players. People will pay more to buy a guitar to give to someone else than for themselves, in general.

As my professor of Greek used to say, "Greek is a language of rules. One of the rules is that all rules have exceptions." (I thought you might appreciate that, Sam. You are, after all, an exceptional Greek.) :)

Also, the dollar is stronger against the Euro right now and that restrains the European bidding somewhat.

Finally -- as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction. eBay is often stranger than truth.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys. MY job is pretty secure. I am in R & D and I am the ONLY person who knows how to do some things my company needs someone around to do the next few years. If I go(and I can RETIRE in 6 months if I want, I'd have 30 years in), they are in serious trouble.....

That's GOOD, Paul...."eBay is often stranger than truth"....how true.
