Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | New best price is about $850. You have to remember it then costs money to ship to china. And then it costs to ship it from shanghai to you. Also, you have to include the tariffs the chinese government imposes on imports.
If you can go to the stores you might find it cheaper. I found Tom Lee's in Hong Kong very competive, in fact, as I recall, they were slightly cheaper than the US. I think HK has a different tariff arrangement. These links will give you an idea of costs in the US for NEW instruments.

Location: Phoenix AZ | Frank, The $400 price I mentioned in an earlier post was for a USED one and not an LX model. If a 1867LX is $1000. in china, I would say that is a very good price! I would assume most goods imported from USA are quite a bit more expensive in China than USA. Dave |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | One of the recent points of discussion between Bush and Hu Jintao was the American request for China to increase the value of their currency. As it now is, it makes Chinese goods very cheap in the USA and American goods very expensive in China. The result is a HUge trade imbalance. The Chinese declined the offer....
Meaning for Frank, an American made guitar will continue to be very, very expensive in China until the present currency situation is resolved. |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | You know, there are walmarts in china ... Right? New ones opening all the time. Since 1996. Or are you saying the chinese government is slowing down their expansion. That I wouldn't know. I do know that they are adding at the rate of at least 5 new stores a year. From my experience it's only the big cities in the costal regions that would make sense to have a walmart. In the rural regions it wouldn't work.
It makes sense to me that walmart would want to go slow. |
