| Hi to everyone from Milan, Italy.
It's nice to see that there is a forum for the roundback fans :D
In the past years i owned several Ovations and one Adamas. (elite, c.legend, coll.92, coll.93)
Now i have a Book Elite that i love
But i have a little problem.
A finis crack-sign on the top
How i can resolve this?
I know that the spruce top it's "ambered" and can be a problem to repaint the crack only "locally".
So i'm considering the idea to refinish all the top.
Would you raccomand this?
Will be easy to remove the bridge?
It's only bolted or it's also glued?
I think that that removing the neck it's not a problem, but the epauettes?

My 1537 has a fairly long finish crack, but I have not paid it much mind figuring at some point I would send it in for a full refurb, but other than the crack and a few very small dings, it is perfect. Is sealing the crack something I should do? Can I do it myself, or is this a job for "Luthier-Man"? I am not sure I could get a fine enough bead to not be noticable. |

Location: Warrenton, Virginia | leave it be and just play it. let the crack alone until it gets worse and there is no alternative accept to consider a repair.....then send it to the Ovation factory in Ct for repair. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | What they said, leave it till you can't stand it anymore or it starts to grow and then plug it with super glue. Or have somebody do it for you, easy fix and hardly noticable. Leave the rest of the top and finish alone. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I have had a wood top refinished due to a large 12" finish crack, AND I've also repaired small ones myself. The one I had refinished required the complete sanding off of the epaulets. They would not come off any other way. Even though the repair was successful, I'd never have that done to a nice guitar like the one you have. I've done my own crack repair using a water-based acrylic finish injected into the crack. That allowed for a very easy cleanup of the excess residue. |

I would not refinish the complete top, i'm gonna leave the book-elite to a luthier to repair only the crack.
