Interesting that the 1687-8 reissue was appearently offered as a cutaway version (1587-8) for Japan. Given the fact that the 1687 RI in the US was going for about $2500., then $3000. for the cutaway 1587 version isn't too bad.
I was fortunate to pick up the same guitar in black (new condition original, not the reissue) last week on ebay for $1410. I received it yesterday and it's a monsterous sound - WOW. Might be a bigger sound than the 47RI.

Another member here recently sold his 1587 to someone in Asia for around $2500. So I think (hope) that there definately is a market in the $2000. plus range.

Location: Phoenix AZ | Got the 87 Collectors as well. Fine guitar. I'll be posting a side by side review vs. the 96 Book Elite shortly. Basically the same guitar with a few minor cosmetic differences. I expected the innie/outtie would make a bigger difference in sound but it does not. Dave |

Location: SoCal | Where do you guys get this "innies vs. outies" thing? And then you relate it to gayness (not that there's anything wrong with that)? Grow up. Like me. |

If you're effeminate, they point out, macho, they point in.... isn't it obvious? Here\'s the thread. |
