I need to start getting a handle on who's coming to the party at my house on Thursday, Jan 18. We've held this the last couple of years and have had a good time. We'll have food and soft drinks, maybe some beer and wine, but BYOB. Also BYOG, although there should be plenty of guitars to play.

Jerrie needs a head count. Shoot me an email off the board and let me know who's coming. I'll make certain that you get the address and phone number well before NAMM.

One!

And I'm interested in organizing ride sharing. Contemplating a rental car if it will be of use to others as well. Let me know.

Bill, I didn't expect to see you here. Last year it took the perfect storm to get you out (OFC party, NAMM, O's 40th), but I'm hoping to see you when an if the OFC gathering happens in CT....

Bummer....I was all set to go when the mother-in-law decided to have her back surgery on the 18th. The wife insisted I go with her to Texas for moral support.....man, sometimes life can really suck!

On the bright side, looks like she can't say no whenever the next OFC tour comes up!

Just a technical question . . . I was told a few years ago that the only way to gain access into a NAMM show was to be a registered guitar store distributor, parts provider or repair service, or a representative from one. How is everybody meeting this requirement? Or is there some other means of gaining entry?

That's in the Biblical sense of "knowing someone".

As far as I can work it out, cliff "knows" bill, moody "knows" cliff, Stonebob "knows" moody and jeffW knows f**k all, but is going anyway.

Am I wrong?

Schro', I think you pretty well hit it on "knowing somebody".... kinda like the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon... but I'm not certain that anybody, ever, in the bibilical sense, should know either Clifford or Whitehead.

You know i've neever been to California, And i've never been to Namm. If i could afford it and had a way to get in it would be worth it just to hang around with Moody and a fun crew.

Well, I'll be up Thursday, then south to San Diego - so someone can ride with me to Paul's. Paul T. rode with me last year. Offered a ride to Al but after riding with me and Matt a couple of years ago, Al didn't think riding in the backseat of a Mustang (sideways)was the way to go. :D

hi ovation amigos,

sorry for being the prodigal son for so long. i have been busier than a one legged world cup player.

i plan to be at namm and will attend the party at pauls and the double maine lobster dinner witko is hosting----what a guy!

i will have a car if i can help with rides. i have a bed in torrance but that is really far if anyone knows of a room to be shared. i'll split costs just to save some driving and be on site earlier. last year the drive back from pauls, after trying to keep up with cliff ended up being short circuited by a motel along the way. there were too many lines on the highway that night and hotel california kept running through my head!

i look forward to seeing you all and wish another perfect storm would blow bill out west again.

cliff, i need your physical mailing address.

i will also have some new flat wound stainless electric strings we developed for midi guitar if anyone attending namm wants a sample. i will have the first in the usa at the namm show.

Son of a ... MOODY ??????

OK, let's take a headcount. Will the 4 OFC members NOT showing up for dinner please identify themselves ...

Just kidding, it will be great to see everyone. Paul, see if you can reserve a private room. One with those plastic tunnels and slides in it. We can squat down and pass for 48 inches.

That's the problem.

Funny, it usually has the OPPOSITE effect on me.
I usually wake in a motel somewhere sleeping OUT of my pants . . .

i will also have some new flat wound stainless electric strings we developed for midi guitar if anyone attending namm wants a sample. i will have the first in the usa at the namm show.

russ
Russ, unfortunately a change in plans is preventing me from going to NAMM this year but I do have 2 electric midi equipped guitars. Any chance you could send me a set of the strings to try out?

Just kidding, it will be great to see everyone. Paul, see if you can reserve a private room. One with those plastic tunnels and slides in it. We can squat down and pass for 48 inches.

Dave
i especially thought you were being generous dave since i know you don't eat things with eyes.

now see what happens! i am supposed to be packing and getting the last stuff done before my flight and i get hooked into hanging with my old amigos. actually this is allot more fun and i wish i could keep up with it. i just move around too much these days to check in.

i din''t know what i did with the last post but the text didn't post. please send me a self addressed stamped envelope strings will fit in to russell swider 22873 nadine circle, torrance ca. 90505 you will have to weigh a set of strings with envelope to get the rate. we mail strings in priority mail envelopes. up to 10 sets of guitar or 3 sets of bass for the flat rate. i can do that too but please send the address sticker and postage. i won't have allot of extra time this trip so i'm trying not to have allot of extra stuff to keep track of.. if you are interested in more strings pm me asap and i'll send some more info and pricing. we are just now setting up a website and an ebay store. the 10 46 flatwound address the errant noise triggering issues of regular strings. actually they are all i use now for electric. i don't want this to turn into an ad so pm me and i'll get you a set coming your way.

please also pm me about midi guitar and you. i am building custom midi guitars (13 pin) and am refining a tube amp with one channel for guitar and one linear more like a hi fi for the synth patches.

you've got that right cliffito. i even tried to be a graphic artist and spent 4 hours trying to make a business card using the logo you made me. i get lots of comments on it. it's heavy.

still don't know if i will find someone to do it as a thin casting or if i will silk screen it on the headstock. you'll be among the first to see it when i finally get it perfected.

thx amigo, russ

My bet is that it's going to be the OFC Guitar.

Speaking of NAMM, not to stir the feces but Martin will update their website Friday to include the new models annouced at NAMM. They are expected to announce a limited run of D-28 '37 Authentics (exact reissue as close as possible) with list price of $40,000. I hope they have one there to try out. Dave

Sure but that's list. You can probably get it for 30% off list, or $28,000. Sound better?

I think among the Martin execs, they call it the D-$28k. Greedy bastards.
