"cute little 4 stringed guitar" will barely get you a grade in this class John.... |

| I have always wondered what you guy's would do if they came out with a 5 string UKE??
Bet there'd be a lot of head scratching going on in the acoustic room that day!

(That really is a beauty, Dave - congrats.) |

How would you tune a 5-string uke? "My-Damn-Dog-Has-Fleas"?
I've owned 6- and 8-string ukes. Actually took an 8-string and ditched the duplicate strings turning it into a 4 string wideneck.
You guys can laugh and poke fun all you want. All I know is that when I play the uke it makes me smile. Makes others smile as well, but probably for a different reason.

I have always tried to laugh WITH you!
That is a very nice instrument and will provide enviable collectability well past what our misunderstood Ovations will get.
If you had six strings and wanted to set up an electric Uke-like instrument with a 19.125 inch scale what would you do?
I am considering DD-GG-B-E.
Another route is to stuff eight tuners in the peghead and go mando or uke with four double courses.
Any ideas? |

there are ukuleles and then there are "ooooooo"kuleles. your new martin is the latter. there is something special about a mahogany tenor martin. it has a voice all its own. i foolishly sold my T-1 about 4 years ago. iz took his tenor martin everywhere.
congrats! |

I would string it D-GG-B-EE. Octave the G's and unison the E's |

Is the D a low D or a high D? |

Dave, on the other hand and being the good guy he is, finished his rendition of "Oops, I Did It Again" and put it away.
Case closed. |
