Having received my Musicians 123 catalog in the mail today, I was surprised to see that (unlike Musicians Friend's catalog) 2 pages featuring 16 Ovation guitars. Only 3 were actually O's, the rest were Celebs, and Applause. I never see an Adamas featured in these catalogs, and don't understand why. The Adamas line could compete well in the higher end market. Taylor had almost their entire line, up to the 800 series, featured in the catalog. Some great promo tag lines and photos, could give Adamas the exposure it deserves to a whole new market.

Perhaps its that the imports have the greatest profit margin, so they're marketed more.

Isn't Music 123 and Musician's Friend the same company in the here and now? I heard a while back that they've merged (correct me if I'm wrong).

Don't waste your time worrying about it. Ovation sells every guitar they make without a lot of marketing and with no artist endorsements to speak of. Why screw with success. Dave

....and add pointless operating expenses?

(and really, isn't a certain sense of obscure, contrary, exclusivity just a small part of the overall appeal? ;)

I'm pretty sure they are NOT the same. 123 is located in NJ (I think), Musicians Friend is owned by GC.

You're right, they are two different companies. I had to cancel an order on 123, because they wanted to charge me sales tax. MF, outta state, no sales tax.

I read something like MF was going to buy 123 but it has not happened yet.
