| There's a nice '92 Angelstep Walnut Elite 12-string on the 'bay. Anyone ever have one of these? I'm assuming it's a mid/shallow bowl. Be interesting to hear a comparison with the 1758.

| That was my next question whether it was sold or veneer/laminate. A no-brainer I guess because of the stress assocated with a 12-string application. But I don't remember hearing of a solid walnut top for 6 strings either. Probably not considered a good top/tone-wood?.. |

| Got an email from the seller, just remembered this 12-string is a super-shallow. But if the price stays around $500 or so then it's a good value. |

| Panelmaster:
Something other than a solid top; Veneer or laminated wood; layered... |

| Apparently it's rather difficult, cost-prohibitive, or otherwise impossible to make a solid guitar top from certain woods. So, the woods that are used as veneers are done for the visual asthetics, not the acoustic qualities. |

Location: ranson, wva | the celb's,matrix's and a few other lower end ovations used the panelmaster tops...sorta like plywood...other companys use them for wood body resonators because the body and top dosnt make the sound..it just hold the cone and soundwell...jason |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Don't let it take on too negative a spin. All Adamas guitars are panelmasters by this definition so keep that in mind. Just that the real rare and exotic woods aren't strong enough to abe a solid top. Many wouldn't sound good anyway. The 3 ply top has a real good sound and they are all plugable anyway. Going toe to toe with a prewar D-18 or 28 they will loose, but that wasn't the intension of these anyway. |

| w2,
How might the 'voice rating' of the pre-war Martins compare with the early Adamas'? |
