Someone will know this one. There was an instrumental tune from the 60's named after a satellite. What was it called?

Well, yeah ... but I got it first! Sir Edmond Hillery? Roger Bannister? Neil Armstrong? Bertrand Piccard? Nobody cares who was second.

ARRRRGH! Mere technicality. You still lost. Actually I did not remember the tormados, so I learned something in the process. Dave

The Tornados were the originals I think - wasn't the tune written by Joe Meek? They're all English if you hadn't guessed :p

Only heard the Ventures version. After reading the blurb above I see why they didn't tour the states.

Oh never mind, I just reread the thing and saw that Meeks was only the producer.

Did he have a penchant for younger blondes and shooting up his own studios too?

None - he thought they were just another bunch of "Copycats" with nothing to interest him. So he turned them down.
The Phil Spector analogy was that he thought he was the star of everything he did, was a total headcase and ended up shooting a woman. Unlike phil he was as queer as a 4 speed walking stick, but otherwise the similarities are numerous.

You need the Shimano derailer to get the 4 speed.

Yup, cliff nailed it! You couldn't give me one of those, but any of the new mountain versions...ooooh yaaaa, when you shift into high gear it's to die for! (Proviso - with good rubber, of course)
