This was a fun thread, so here it is again.

Follow the instructions below for the genuine thrill that comes with discovering your blues name: From the first list, take the name using the initial of your first name. From the second list, do the same with your middle name. From the third, your surname.

First List:
A=Fat; B=Muddy ; C=Crippled; D=Old; E=Texas; F=Hollerin'; G=Ugly; H=Brown; I=Happy; J=Boney; K=Curly; L=Pretty; M=Jailhouse; N=Peg Leg; O=Red; P=Sleepy; Q=Bald; R=Skinny; S=Blind; T=Big; U=Yella; V=Toothless; W=Screamin'; X=FatBoy; Y=Washboard; Z=Steel-Eye

Second List:
A=Bones; B=Money; C=Harp; D=Legs; E=Eyes; F=Lemon; G=Killer; H=Hips; I=Lips; J=Fingers; K=Boy; L=Liver; M=Gumbo; N=Foot; O=Mama; P=Back; Q=Duke; R=Dog; S=Bad Boy; T=Baby; U=Chicken; V=Pickles; W=Sugar; X=Cracker; Y=Tooth; Z=Smoke

Third List:
A=Jackson; B=McGee; C=Hopkins; D=Dupree; E=Green; F=Brown; S=Jones; H=Rivers; I=Malone; J=Washington; K=Smith; L=Parker; M=Lee; N=Thompkins; O=King; P=Bradley; Q=Hawkins; R=Jefferson; S=Davis; T=Franklin; U=White; V=Jenkins; W=Bailey; X=Johnson; Y=Blue; Z=Allison

My initials are S.F.L.

So my blues name is Blind Lemon Parker

Since all modern music comes from the blues, we are all blues players anyway.

Here's an alternative way to generate a blues name. You take the names of an affliction or disease, a fruit and an ex-US president.

For example: Blind Lemon Jefferson

or Clubfoot Guava Nixon,

or Syphylitic Plums Clinton.

Minutes of fun.

Fat Fingers Davis!

Sounds cool... But I so wanted it to be Blind Mellon Chitlin!!

Or Red Gumbo Jackson, for my OFC name. Fat Fingers sounds better.

Mine's
Blind Legs Hopkins...(Legs??!!)
I think I need to change my middle name.
If my Middle name had been the same as my Dad's
Starting with a W instead of a D my Blues name would've been better

It would then be Blind Sugar Hopkins.(sounds better doesn't it?)

I'm not a big fan of "Old Gumbo Dupree", although I can work up a sweat and smell like old gumbo. According to Paul Templeman, I might be more comfortable with "Parkinson Figs Eisenhower" or maybe "Spastic Banana Jackson" (I vaguely recall that condition from my childhood). How about IBS Gumbo Dupree? That would expain a few things.

Thanks for the laugh.

Running or stopped (up). Every hour is a new adventure! How about "Mongoloid Mellon Madison"? I'd pay to see him... next time the circus is in town.

We also have a cousin that's famous. So it's me you and Dupree.

I can't tell if whoever made this up has heard me play or not! I'm not sure if Sleepy Fingers is a nickname a guitarist should be proud of, but then again, having your pride slapped around a little tends to lead to some great blues! So...I guess I'll keep it.

I come out as "Boney Legs Lee".

It has probably been 35 years since I was described as "boney".

Actually, I had a pretty good name in college: My initials "JD" somehow got morphed into "Junk Yard Dog" . Maybe that'll work.

Opposites work as well. Curly for a bald guy and Slim for a not so thin guy.

I ended up with Jailhouse Fingers. Not sure what those are.

So I was in to see my Doctor the other day and, as required, I asked him to sign my leave slip to hand my boss when I return to work.

He reaches in to his vest pocket and pulls out a rectal thermometer. I say "Doc, that's a rectal thermometer".

He says "Oh, some a$$hole has my pen".

Needless to say, the signature was a little hard to read...

I am ashamed to admit that I was thinking the same thing as Cliff. I know that many of the rest of you were thinking the same. We have Cliff here to express all of our repressed thoughts. Here's another one: "Cliff--Spokesman for the OFC." Scary.

It's "entendre".

And it should be plural, not possessive.

ok, so...
my name is dorian, and i live in Tychy, in southern part of poland - region called silesia.
I play on guitar for a year... i had to start to play... my father plays guitar for 30 years and the day that i grabbed one of his came on 4th of august, 2006.
I've started with Hohner HC-20 Classic guitar, then changed for a 3 weeks strings for steel (i know, don't do this on classic...), and i've decided to buy another guitar. I've found a old Hohner MW-400 for a equivalent of 40$ and i've put back nylons into hc-20.
I've bought my ovation 1617 few days ago, one may say, by accident. I found my Legend on allegro.pl (it's polish version of e-bay), and seller was from my city. So i went to him, and i saw a Legend. It was... it is in really bad condition. And for a while i wasn't sure if i want to play on it even. but i grabbed her... and the sound amazed me. Guitar with broken top, broken neck, weird strings (.16-.56!) sounded good. very good. I paid for it $150 with original case. And the next day i bought new strings, .10 (because of damaged neck), and found a luthier who will repair my guitar.
And i found this site (google).

i work as IT Specialist, for Consul Engineering.
age 23, i can speak english, french latin and polish;-)...
I'm a big fan of Chicago Bulls.
I like guitar-fingerpicking music, country, rock etc. My favorite artists are Tommy Emmanuel, Pat Donohue, Cher Atkins, Vince Gill and The Beatles.
i hope it's enough

Any fan of Tommy Emmanuel is a friend of mine, Dorian (I'm a huge fan of his!), although I must say, as a fan of the Boston Celtics, the Bulls haven't been a real team since MJ left years ago. :D

Pat, Chet (and I'm assuming you mean Chet Atkins and not Cher), Vince and The Beatles are all very legitmate influences as well. Stick around and don't be shy. Jump into conversations when you want and I hope you enjoy the Board!

Pssst...aloha Randy! Really enjoying breaking in the Tak and getting to know this instrument. You know, its one of my favorite periods of a guitar. When the guitar is right for the player, it then becomes something so much more. Its like we then get to use this instrument in such an awesome way. I think this is one of those guitars.

There is so much potential in the voice...all the necessary things to make it a very special piece. The playability fits my hands as well as any other guitar. In fact, better. A win-win. Now its just time, practice and the right environmental conditions.

Thank you again for you all of your generoisty and help. A true good friend. Good things sometimes come out of things that I don't understand while they happen. But, it ultimately winds up becoming my best path.

I think its important to sometimes talk openly about the good things that happen...if you know what I mean. So, mahalo.

Talk with you soon. Hope you understand why I'm busy playing and not coming in to say hi as often as I want. Just know coming in to say hi hi is there.

Take care,
Mark "Jailhouse Black Smith" ~yes, I know it is "Back", but in the TRUEST sprit of the blues, I made what was given to me better.
