Al is probably gonna kill me. Or at least kill this thread. Killing me would not be in his best interest right now considering my outstanding balance with him.

But anyway, now that the OFC guitar is here and real and we anxiously await delivery slots, it dawns on me that the "other" forum does a club guitar every 2-3 years. So it's only natural to imagine that the OFC guitar can't be a one time shot. There needs to be another go at it in a few years, right? You still with me Al?

I'll throw out the first salvo and propose what the guitar configuration should be. Based on the principle that it should draw on a great basic Ovation design or legendary model, but modernized and customized. And it should economically be within the reach of those that really want it.

Soooo, what I would propose would be a variation of the legendary FD14 Folklore Deluxe. with the following modiciations:

- deep or contour bowl, CUTAWAY
- CEDAR top natural satin finish
- inlayed ABALONE rosette
- WALNUT body binding
- ebony bridge and fingerboard
- 12 fret five piece neck, no inlays
- WIDE neck 1-3/4 bone nut
- SLOTTED headstock with abalone logo
- WEAVERLEY open gear tuners
- walnut truss rod cover
- thinline saddle pu
- VIP preamp

Just one mans dream ....

OK, Al you can kill the thread now.

Dave

That would be a great guitar. But it would have to be 2-3 years down the road as I won't be done paying for the current OFC guitar for 2-3 years....

There goes Dave....

.
With the Adamas Custom Shop now officially open perhaps we will be able to spec out an "OFC Option Package" just like we would spec out the color of the top.

(There Dave... perhaps that will draw a portion of Al's fire away from ya.)

You know, looking at those specs again, the reason I like it so much is that it looks like a fancy version of the FD14, easily one of the very best guitars I own.

I'll pass on that one. I like a high gloss finish on my guitars - top AND neck.

Reading Dave's opening paragraph, my mind raced ahead and was screaming FD-14 even before I got to that part.

yeah, I'll be there!

Blues

(Unless I score an actual FD-14 before then)

2 or 3 years ago I found this board while trying to find out something about a Celebrity CC057. I can't imagine where I'll be in another 2 or 3 years.

I overheard a friend/Drummer/Mother of two telling my Wife that her Father and most of her family were musicians and that she would never marry a guitar player - they are always thinking about their next guitar to buy!

I had absolutely no response.

The one guitar I can't wait to hear a report on is the 12 string baritone adamas that someone is having made.

FWIW (and probably not much!)

I really like the tortoise accents on the original. Also i'd like to hear how a spruce top would sound in this configuration. I don't use a pick and i find cedar to sound dull -- like there's a delay in producing the note. Where, to my ear, on a spruce top the notes are more instantly alive.

Maybe i should have my hearing checked.

Templeman has a spruce topped version of this guitar. There may still be a pic in his gallery. Beautiful instrument.

I would order it today!

Maybe gloss the neck... Does it have an XLR hook up with the VIP?

Could this get done for $1,800.00 out the door?
I smell the "2008" Collector!

Now, "that's what I'm talkin about".
