| I've got a '78 1624-1 I wanted to keep original and I needed a schematic to have the preamp repaired. Kim Keller is going to send me one in the mail. What a great help that is!
(..now if I can only find a tech to do the job..) |

We haven't conclusively proven exactly what yet... but he's right up there at the top! |

Location: closely held secret | Anytime, Paul. Think of it as a preview for the DVD.
Which is almost completed. The only problem is it may have to go on 2 disks. |

One labelled "PG" and the one, not?
Anxiously awaiting the film noir release Waskel! |

| whew....now that I can see again... back on topic.
Kim and John are great!!! and that's an understatement.
I was talking to John B. last week and checking on the progress of restorations and other needed parts for projects when I asked about possibly replacing an intermittent stereo preamp on one of my legends...
I told him I thought it was only the pot as the signal came on and off on one channel and when you tapped the knobs it would come on again... hadn't had a chance to climb into it and spray it with contact cleaner yet.. but if that failed would be buying a new preamp soon..
anyway... went to the mailbox today, and there was an Ovation envelope...
and inside was a new pot and a set of knobs.
these aren't a stock cts item either...it's a 4 gang pot.. not a normal off-the-shelf item..
can't get one at radio shack etc..
as I've said before....
Best Customer Service On the Planet!!
Thanks John!!

| Yes, back on topic... Is there a chance anyone has the (mexican) preamp that originally came in a '78 1624? I'm probably grasping at straws here, but I thought I would give it a shot. I sill have to find a tech I trust to trouble-shoot the one I have. The last guy couldn't fix it...it still goes 'HMMMMMMMM....' Maybe it's just a 'dead ground' that can be easily repaired, and it might be tough to replace whatever part has failed in the circuit. |

| Thanks Woody, I appreciate the thought. I knew this was going to be a challenge to keep this guitar all original, but it is really a great sounding guitar; never had a problem with the neck; with all the shims out and strung with Savrez high-tension it plays like a piece of cake, great volume, plenty of resistance on the strings...(classical gas never sounded so good...) I'll keep looking, there's got to be a remedy for the problem, it's not that sophisticated a circuit board... |

I believe Jason,(AKA johnny cash 83), has a preamp that came out of an early 1624. Why don't you contact him. It might work on your guitar.
He was going to send it to me, but I don't really need it. |

| Hmmm, I'll keep that in mind...things are tight right now, so I'll wait 'til I get an estimate on repairing the original... |
