Location: Michigan | Just picked up my new celebrity model last night.
But for me looking at Low end Martin, Taylor, Takamine, the Ovations attention to detail and workmanship were key points along with the electronics for 349.00 a good value. :)
It's been 25 years since I last played and everything but seagull is made in Mexico, or China In that price range. I ordered a Jasmine by Takamine what a disgrace Nut wasn't glued in and still had masking tape inside.
Returned it and spent 4 hrs playing and listening to everything in my range. I had an ovation back in 1972 (Should have kept it) Glad to have found this place!!!

I started out with a Celebrity over 20 years ago...
I upgraded now and again for several years....
Found this site a few years ago....
At some point, without even realizing it, caught the GAS....
And the sad part is, it's too late to tell you to "watch that first step", because you already took it.
You'd better hang on tight! It gets slippery from here.... |

Location: Virginia | Welcome to the collective. On the advice of a friend, I went used. I shopped and waited for my first O, an 85 collectors, which I bought for 300. I think no matter what you have to spend, A quality used stick is the way to a better guitar. |

Location: Michigan | Question the strings are D'addario EXPs. I had regular 80/20s before and have used martins. What works for people with ovation? I plan on finding an older deep bowl for acoustic only in the future. |

As to strings, if you'll do a Subject Only search in General Postings for "strings", you'll find way more on the subject than most humans can tolerate. There are almost as many opinions as there are types of strings, with one person's favorite being another person's can't tolerate. One prevalent opinion is that strings are relatively cheap so just try a bunch of 'em and see what you like. |
