Elija Wald did a book on him too. Interesting to read. He was a pretty nice guy but sure seemed older than 52 when I met him. The mileage may have been a factor. A neighbor loaned me some of his early recordings from the time he was big and I truthfully have to say it's not my cup of tequila.

Sadly, Graves died last year.

White was kind of rough around the edges, huh?

Well whatdaya know......Learn something new every day! I've lived in Greenville and Greenville county for 44+ years and never knew or heard anything of Josh White being from here!

Small world!

Hmmmm.....You would think there would at least be a street named after him somewhere around here.
Might have to check the library and such....

No He wasn't rough at the edges. He was a very polished person. He just always ran at close to full throttle. That gets you after a while.
