Location: Hicksville, NY | I just saw it! I'm typing away as I'm watching the awards. Based on the inlays on the frets, it seems like a 12-string Custom Legend, with a tobacco sunburst finish. It was brief, but a great performance. Before Melissa Etheridge's performance, I think James Taylor also did pretty well himself. Unless I need to upgrade the audio on my home system, I couldn't hear much from the Olson that he's playing with. |

Inlay was the Legend pattern, missing the nice curves at the base of the fingerboard for a CL and standard gold tuners. Looked like it was deep bowl and definitely worn at the arm rest and where the pick hits the soundboard. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | It was a Legend, even as much as she plays I doubt an LX would have that much wear on it. The finish on the top where her arm touches it is down to the wood!!!
On a related note, was watching TubeTV and saw a 10,000 Maniacs performance of "Because The Night" in there the Bass was an Ovation acoustic Bass. |

Location: Lebanon, TN | Doesn't appear to be up yet. Miles I know you dont think this was an LX but it did have the LX style TRC and looked like the inlaid rosette to me. I just loved the fact that it was as "loved and worked" as it was.
That and it was small pay back to my wife and daughter who had been gushing all night about dresses, shoes and jewels! My Ovation geekhood credits shone large to much eye rolling from the ladies. |

Our own Melissa Etheridge will be performing her Oscar nominated song "I Need to Wake Up" on the 79th annual Academy Awards airing live from L.A. This Sunday night (5PT / 8ET). The song was written and recorded as a personal favor to Al Gore who called her almost 2 years ago requesting a song for his "slide show". The slide show he was referencing eventually morphed into the critically acclaimed Oscar nominated film "An Inconvenient Truth".
Melissa will not be using her signature model Adamas 12 string but will playing a 6756LX-1 that she had us relic. So while the guitar may appear as an old beat-up sunburst Ovation, it is in fact a new LX.
Her performance in about an hour into the show. We wish her luck on her nomination and her performance.

To me it looked strange. I told my wife that due to the wear patterns, ME must have only played this guitar for one type of song, given where the wear had formed. I reckoned she had a different guitars for different styles. I was ignoment. |

Sorry.
I thought her post-award quip was great: "This is the only naked man who will ever be in my bedroom" -- referring to Oscar. |

Location: Portland, OR | I'm confused.. who has a guitar reliced ( i think i like re-liced better than relic-ed!!) and then has some kind of PR announce that her worn guitar is actually a new guitar ordered old.. how cheesy. she totally needs to be reliced. |

If she just plays the same guitar as long a Willie, she won't hafta get one "relic-ed". Or she could buy some of the beauties we see on E-baaa all the time.
Anyway, I thought that was a good song. |
