I had the same experience this morning as I was reading the newspaper.

Actually you remind me that brown has a few goodies for me as well. I've been sans-FD14 for about 4 months and alomst forgot all about it. Damn, that'll be like getting a new guitar.

Enjoy your delivery today. And give us a full report.

Dave

It had an extended vacation at the factory. Combination of sorta falling through the cracks, I more or less forgot about it, they eventually found the neck in a back closet and the body in a plastic garbage bag under somebody's desk. It was just in for a routine gloss job. I've been informed that all is now back together and "she's freaking spectacular." Will be nice to re-aquaint with my old friend.

yes it is. the 6 is model 1985, and the 12 is 2985.

we can always hope that that there will be a collectors model for the year 2985.... (I feel a Zager and Evans song coming on....)

Glenn, I am confident that the guitar you receive tomorrow will exceed our expectations.

You deserve as much (or more) credit for giving this guitar a new life... the sun is shining over here on this side of the rock... how is it over on your side?

speaking of zager and evans, denny zager did some work for me on a martin OM-28 about four years ago. he applied his "string science" to it. he shaved the braces on the bass side, filed down the fretwires and widened the nut spacings. the action was incredible for fingerstyle guitar. shaving the braces gave the guitar a wonderful low response. you could just slide a credit card under the strings all the way up the neck. no buzzing! it didn't work well with alternate tunings though. string tension is crucial. denny now sells many guitars on eBay that he has applied his "science" too.
"in the year 2525" is still rated as the biggest one-hit wonder song.

Thanks BC, it was a very nice guitar when I first got it from you.. then it and I had some problems.. but I'm all better now... ;)

bottom line, you shouldn't have gotten the treatment you got. and I deserved gettin my A$$ kicked around...

and the guitar... well, it deserved to be brought back to it's full glory.

some stormy weather on this coast coming in tonite... but hey it's Florida, I can't complain too much.. the wife and I are going out for some coffee and pie and a walk on the beach before the thundershowers hit.

Thanks Again Noah.

denny used to work on guitars that were already privately owned, like my martin. but now, according to his website, his attorneys told him there was too much liability, so now folks have to buy one of his guitars or do the work themselves or find some luthier to do the setup. he is buying a few martin models from martin, doing his setup and then reselling them. he is also bringing in some quality guitars from indonesia that he designed, doing his setup and then selling them under his name "Zager".
any of these martins or zagers are all available rather inexpensively plus case & shipping.
his reviews are stellar. i know i was able to play open chords on the octave frets past the 12th and the guitar would be in perfect tune. imagine that!

glenn,
did you purchase this guitar new? if used, how long have you had it?
i imagine the 1985 collectors are not as readily available as some of the other collectors units, especially in the 12 stringers. what's your take on that? i really like the burst/color combo on this one. wowzy!!

the guitar has been "in the family" and "available for adoption" for a while now...I received the guitar from Noah, in almost new condition. only a little damage on the treble epi and couple tiny dings when I got it... then the neck got whacked. and I well... anyway we're square and still friends.

It has belonged to a few other OFC members over the years and it is a Very Low ser# for a 12 #800.. and is probably one of the very first in the run, I never asked. It was the first year that a 12 was made a collectors as well.

It sounds very good for a shallow bowl 12. not a 1758 by any means.. but also more comfortable to play with my more pronounced round front. it has an op24. I like the satin or natural necks, this one's a nice satin.

the autumnburst is really nice and has a great wow factor when playing out.

the re-finish and the fretwork that was just done on this guitar is beautiful...

where the epi was chipped/damaged they clean cut the edge on the veneer and dropped/inlaid a new piece in.. the new piece is blended in pretty well and just looks like another type of wood.

if it still had the skidpad on the back and some hang tags... it would pass for brand new.

Tony once described it as a "truly exceptional 12-string"..

it is again. and I agree.
