Location: Wheeling, WV | Who's old enough to remember the 70's music program called the Midnight Special, with Wolfman Jack? I sure watched it every chance i got, along with Don Kirchner's concerts. Way before MTV and music videos.
Anyway, i saw an infomercial Fri. night offering a subscription for DVD's of the Midnight Special. As they were showing many short clips of different artists, up flashed Jim Croce doing Bad Bad Leroy Brown, on a sunburst Ovation. Then, funny coincidence, i got my Ovation book in the mail on Sat., and saw a picture of him playing what looks to be the same guitar. Didnt see the headstock in either, just body and neck. Not sure what model, but looks just like my 70's sunburst Legend. Surprised me, I've mostly known him to play Martins.
All in all, the Mid. Spec. DVD's look like they may be pretty good. Anyone try them yet? That was the first i saw the advertisement for them......JP |

Location: Wheeling, WV | BTW.......there was also a clip of Heart doing Magic Man, but it was short, and didnt show Nancy at all, but I think she played her Ovation on that song...she played lots of O's in the early days.....mostly Martins and Takamines these days i think. |

Far as I know, Jim Croce played mainly Ovations. One story/legend is that his and Mauries "O"s survived the crash in their cases.
PS: If I know this group at all....and I don't....most of us not only know Midnight Special and Don Kirshners...whatever it was: we watched Annette Funicello go through puberty. |
