However, the quantity can't measure how we love the round back guitar, right?
So I decide to share my guitars here.
-10 = (-5) + (-5)
 just kidding about the number
They are Adamas 1587-5 and 1581-5 :)
The Black Beauty !
Adamas is beautiful and wonderful guitar.
I'm glad to own some.
check out my pics here

Question for the experts: The model 1587 cutaway adamas I seems to be the same model number for the single epaulet version and the double epaulet version. Is this correct? If so, were they ever available at the same time (same years) or was single epaulet on certain years and double was other years.

I would love to know the answer of Dave's question too.
What i know is they, adamas I single and both epaulet, share the same model number, which is 1587.
But I have no idea about the year of build. |

| Beautiful! Those Adamas 1 & 2's are the best stage guitars money can buy! They sound great, comparable with any of the high end traditional guitars, they play great and they look like nothing anyone has ever seen. This is what Stage presence is all about, You need to sound good you need to be able to function easily to pull off those hard songs and you need to have a look of some type.
These Adamas's fill the bill nicely.

And your pics are wonderful.
If I'm right, Adamas cutaway with double epaulet were not available before 1994.
I don't know if both single and double epaulet were available at the same time??

I'll try to arrange for someone to stand up at the end of our set holding #47, look right at you and shout, "Fiddybucks?"

Location: SoCal | The original Adamas, both I & II with the single epaulet on the bass side, were done originally because people wanted cutaways, and Ovation wasn't certain about how to do the treble epaulets with cutaways. This would have been about 1983-84 (it's a 2 knobber). Some were built with the single epaulet, then later with the epaulets on both sides.
An unintended benefit was that the bass was much stronger with no soundholes on the treble side. Why they didn't keep making them that way is beyond me. Maybe it was felt that there was too much bass response.....
I'm not a fan of black guitars, but the one in this thread is beautiful.... |

Location: Bluffton, SC | I think that's one of the reasons it's got me going, Paul. The last one I played with just the bass epaulets was a bit bass heavy (for my ears) and I think the treble sided epaulets would have almost had to give it a better balanced sound. Together with the deep bowl, I'll bet that's a great sounding instrument. And I'm not into black all that much either but I do like that one. |

As I was... ;) |

Location: closely held secret | I don't think the single-side epi's give you more bass, I think they just give you less treble, making the bass seem more pronounced. Not that there's anything wrong with that. |

Please don't get me wrong, Waskel. At last year's Tour, I played a number of guitars that I wanted to run out the back door with and yours was one of the first. And, if there was any doubt what sound was possible (with a little talent behind it, of course), your cd puts that to rest. No disrespect intended and, should a 47RI be presented in front of me for "fiddybux" and cause me to implode, you are still first in line (with JW and Schroeder, of course) to take what's left of my sparkly 1537 (and I say that because I intend on taking everything I can with me ;) ). |
