1717 Legend
I still can't believe I got a Legend for so little. I always get trumped at the last second on ebay. I'm sure it'll be as good as people on this board say. I guess that is what sucks the most about buying off ebay is waiting to sample the goods. I can't wait... |

I've got one of those with a mid-depth bowl, same vintage. It is one of my favorites. That OP-24 pre-amp was the stuff back then, and they still hold up today. As Moody has said, they had some choice wood back then.
(That Kaman Bar neck is basically indestructible, too. Great for flying. Even Southwest couldn't break mine. LOL!) |

Location: Whitecourt, Ab | Thanks Dave, I took your advice and went shopping in Edm. last weekend, and decided I had to have a solid top O. Couldn't find one under a grand in the city though. This one just kinda fell in my lap

Location: Alberta, Canada | Aged, solid top and deep bowl...prepare yourself to be Wowed! I'll be surprised if you're not. I suspect it will out shine anything you played in the city, sound and tone wise.
And you have got to appreciate all the Loonies left in your pocket! :)
I'll stay tuned for your assessment.

Congratulations eddie. |

| That is such a fantastic colour. That's the nicest I've seen since Moody sold his old classical. Congratulations. You may as well throw the rest of your collection away ;) |

| Beautiful guitar for the price. The top is well aged, has to sound better than new.. I have the same model in a cutaway, tuned it down to C standard with heavy D'adds. Deep tone, bright mids, clear highs... |

I was hoping you'd see that.
The legend is in Wpg, I had it sent to my niece in Min. and she dropped it off at my folks. I'm going there for Easter to bring it home ( and to visit my family) |

| Congrats Ed. Let us know how you like it. I think you will. Just my personal opinion, but the older Legends are the best sounding Ovations ever. |

Yes I got the legend. It sounds ok, and plays ok, but their is an issue with the neck, and maybe the bridge. The bone is about 1/4" or more thick, as you can see in the pics on this thread, I wonder if anyone knows if that's normal. Also does anyone know how to adjust the neck? There is a nut of some sorts inside near the bottom of where the neck joins the body, I'm wondering if this needs to be loosened before adjusting the neck with an allen wrench?
It sounds great plugged in, but acoustically it is slightly flat, the highs don't ring, compared to the 1111 I bought from Jason.
Maybe I'm just being anal, but the last few inches of the fretboard dive down towards the sound hole, however, from the nut up to the body the action is good, and no buzzing |

Location: Alberta, Canada | Ed, glad to hear you got it. Sorry I can't help with the adjustment issues, but someone here will be able to walk you through it.
The bone you're talking about, is the bridge or nut? They both look right to me, but what do I know?
Have you put new strings on it?
Sure is a nice looking guitar.
