Again, I have searched the archives for this, but found only suggestions of answers, so hope someone(s) here can confirm.

Can you send guitars back to Ovation for major repairs such as cracked tops or broken necks? Several people seem to have done this ("sent back to mothership..." etc) with good results. I'm assuming it's not cheap, but can you request a completely NEW top? Or the installation of a 'stock' pickup in a guitar that never had one? Or putting on a particular width of neck you like? I realize if you have enough $$, anything is possible, but just curious.

Yes, you can get a new top. Most likely they will also replace the bowl (just easier) so preamp upgrades can also happen!
You can also have tops refinished and cracks repaired, necks reset, frets replaced, fretboards leveled, oil changed...
ok, I made that last one up. But you get the idea.

If one was to have the top, bowl and neck replaced, what would be left of the original?

reminds me of an ol' hee-haw song:

"you took off your false nose, your false eye, your false ear

you should have seen the look on my face

i wanted to hug you, to hold you, to kiss you

but you were scattered all over the place.

where, oh where, are you tonight?

why did you leave me here all alone

i searched the world over and i thought i'd found true love

but you met another and pfffffftttt, you were gone.

I might also add it is cheaper usually to have Ovation do the work than to get your local luthier to do it as well. They don't gouge you on the price.

A Repair tech or Luthier has to "tool up" for the repairs of a variety of instruments and may not be as fluent in some models.

At CT they have the parts, the tools and the history to gett'er done!

G8r - done.
