Location: ranson,wva | im rebuilding a old late 60's deep bowl. this bowl has a fiberglass ring around the top of the bowl instead of kerfing, what type of glue should i use to attatch the top to the bowl?? thanks jason |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Yeah... But I would use the 20 minute epoxy, instead of the 5 minute variety. It gives you more time to make adjustments. Five minutes goes by REAL QUICK if you make a boo-boo. Just my experience... |

Another glue to consider would be some home made hide glue. It's easier to get rid of than the various super glues. Though the super glue may be correct, I don't know the answer to this one.
I've called the stewmac people with questions like this and they gave me good advice. So I guess I'd call the factory, and the stewmac people, and whichever one made the most sense I'd go with. |

Location: NJ | Hide glue is designed for more "traditional" wood-to-wood joints.
The Factory uses a hot-glue that's been specifically-formulated for them by 3M so that it "sets-up" within a specific amount of time as the guitars move through the line. |

Location: Warren,Pa. | Would "GOOP" work? I know it's not what they use at the factory, but the consistency looks similar and it remains somewhat flexible to allow for the difference in expansion/contraction properties of the different materials. |

If it moves and it shouldn't, duct tape.
If it won't move and it should, wd-40.
If you don't how else to make the damned thing stay put, Goop it!

First try oxy clean, then try naphtha. If neither work, just wear them and pretend nothing is wrong.
PS Goop probably would be a good alternative. |

The Crisper Bins to our Fridge had been cracking and giving out to the frustration of all. Ran a few web serches and was aghast to learn that the replacement parts (two piece make one bin) would run about $90 each!
Necessity and Scottish heritage started to kick in. Grabbed some fiberglass drywall repair mesh and a couple of those 2 part clear epoxy tube kits.
The bins are now at least 300% more structurally sound than the original and my budget is much better off.
Advice: Mix well, move fast, forget about reusing the brush or pot. |

Location: big island | while airing out the inside of the case for the 1581 i just got, all of a sudden the straps that hinge the top both came loose and the top crashed down on to the guitar. no damage, just a rude awakening as it happened during my nap. (whenever both my girls nap at the same time, i take full advantage of that opportunity, you betcha!) not only that, this sucky server was down anyway.
so, regarding glue, the ends of the strap that came loose show a spot of glue on them, probably hot glue. has anyone reglued straps? if so, with what and did you find it necessary to remove the old glue? mahalo! |

Location: ranson,wva | randy,did it come loose from inside the acessory box? all 7 of my brown cases the strap came unglued. i just used hotglue and a bit of super glue around the edges....jason |

there are two straps that hold the case cover from opening all the way. one at the head and one mid-body. the ends tuck under the fur and glue to the wall of the case. |

Location: ranson,wva | oh sh!t,sorry randy. you case is a newer black case,no? i can go rip the ones off of my adamas case and reattach them to find a good answer..lol
if you can pry the "fur" and foam back enough to get it shoved down in ther without busting the foam then the hot glue should work.....jason |

Location: big island | i'll "git'er done" somehow. i can get the strap back in place but it does not leave enough room to also put glue on it without the glue scraping off the strap while working it back in there. i guess i need to pry the foam a bit more. thanks!
i don't think the hot glue will hold it though. i'll try gorilla glue. |

Location: ranson,wva | if you use gorillia glus dont use much...i know this guy(i wont mention any names) who used gorillia glue to fill a crack in a case and it swelled and bused thye whole damn side out of it....jason |

So I don't hafta warn you.
Personally, in my REAL job in maintenance, I have not been impressed with Gorilla Glue's usefulness.
JMO.
One of my cases did the same thing. I tried to just stuff the strap back in there. No haps!
I just live with it.

~the gorilla glue worked very well on the straps. i wedged a large blade screwdriver in between the wall of the case and the foam and was able to make enough room to slide the straps inside with the glue applied and not get it all over the fur. it is holding very well. i did remove as much of the old glue as i could without raising a sweat and applied the gorilla glue to both sides of the strap. |

Location: ranson,wva | randy, i would figgure that if gorillia glue held a guitar headstock on with med-heavy strings and tuned to concert pitch that stayed intune for 4months sould hold that cloth strap on the case lid....jason |
