Another comment from the ignorant. This one comes from the Gearslutz forum and is talking about early Cat Stevens recordings.....from a self professed expert


Unless I am mistaken, he played Ovation guitars, you know, the ones made out of plastic. Ever notice that everyone who plays one sucks? With a VERY exceptions, Cat Stevens being one of them. But that is truly how they sound. Like crap.

Zoom’s upgraded A2.1u acoustic effects pedal includes only nine types of guitars among its many presets. Included are two Martins (D-28 and 000-18), two Gibsons (SJ-200 and J45), a Dobro Model 27, National Reso-phonic Style 0, Selmer Maccaferri, Tacoma C3C, and an Adamas! I've stated before... Some traveling Hippie-Musician in the 70's brought an Ovation to the circle in the park. I thought it was awesome.
At that time, lots of guitars came through the park, Gibsons, Guilds, Epiphones, Martins... But I always liked that Ovation, with the bowl.
Last year, I saw one in the shop, and my memory just clicked.

"Yeah Bro', I like your Seagull and your old Martin. But I like my Korean Balladeer better (and I can plug-it-in)."
[Now my Chinese and Connecticut versions too.]

And that about sums it up. The guitar is a tool. If I find one that works for me, why do I care who agrees/disagrees? And if their opinion makes my favorite tool less expensive, so much the better.

Why are any of us so insecure enough that a perfect (or near) strangers opinion of anything is worth more than a "humph...really?"

We know we like our guitars. (and are secure enough to admit enjoying most others...with one bigotted exception) (is anyone hooked on the new Canadian comedy Corner Gas? When a neighbouring town, Wollerton, is mentioned, everyone spits. Same thing here)

We know WHY we like or guitars.

I came to Ovation because of the Kinks in 1980 with Ray Davies using an O on Lola.
