the string muter on my magnum bass has dried up and "crumbles" if you fingers on it too much. it still works, and since the bass soon is 30 years old, i guess you have to count with such a thing.

anyway, i was playing with the idea of replacing it. i checked the ovationguitars.com site for info on spare parts, and it seems like they want you to contact the seller of the intrument. however, i bought the bass used, and since these fine instruments have been discontinued for so long, it might be a long shot to find a place with spare parts. sure, ebay. but even thou these basses seem to pop up there every once in a while, parts doesn't seem to.

does anyone know where to go? help please.

I would just "experiment" with chunks of similar foam(s) until you find something to your liking . . .
