Location: Buffalo,NY | I just bought my first Ovation, an 1858LX . I'm putting it and the other acoustics in our band through an extra PA amp that I have. It's a Peavey XR600C going into a single Peavey 15" PA Cab. With a touch of reverb it sounds fantastic. I can amplify every body for little expense. What amps are you using for your acoustic electrics ?

Tom |

| it's a preamp, effects box, and one of the first microphone modeling boxes... I like it. sounds good to me and gets along with every amp/guitar I've tried it with. added the expression/volume pedal to it and will do pretty much anything I want it to..
the automatic notch/feedback filter is really effective and it will seek/cancel 5 different resonant frequencies at once. really cool, if you start to get feedback, hit the button, seeks and kills it, up to 5 different/simultaneous whines controlled.
now that someone here told me I could change and upload the patches via midi.... rtfm... doh!!
it's even better.

I add a touch of reverb (the alesis has a choice of 40 'verbs) (or chorus, or delay, or flange, or phase or octive, the Alesis has it all, depending on the song, and let me add is very portable) at the mixer, using it like a reverb pedal on steroids. I get a nice warm tone.
The MS101 will work in a room smaller than 25 x 25 feet no problem.
PS Glad to hear the magic stomp download worked! |

| I am actually gigging solo with just my Peavey Ecoustic 112. The Mic and guitar sound great and it is plenty of volume for any of the small venues I have played so far.
I want to experiment with an instrument mic and the amp together on stage. So far not to much trouble with feedback but some places with hardwood floors force me to keep the volume down just a little more than I would like.
Right through a PA is just as good, perhaps better but unless the PA is set up for effects like doubler, chorus, reverb etc. a little zoom foot pedal, or any acoustic effects unit you like, works well.
Do not remember which one of you guy's mentioned "Pooh Corner" in one of your posts but I learned it last week and played it out......it was very well recieved.
Thanks for mentioning this song I had forgotten all about it.

Location: Vermont | I've been playing in clubs since 1976 as a solo/duo. I plug into a Peavey XR-600F With EV Speakers. They're a great team. Custom Legend,Peavey,EV. I think you're on the right track with your Peavey XR-600C. The newer models have more to offer with both clarity and effects. I would recomment the XR-600G which you can pick up for around $300.00. |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Yes,with P A quality being so good these days, using P A is the way to go,many of them mixers have usable effects and footswitches to control them,I got a Morley wah inserted at times, will look into a crybaby as well, the Dual Showman had to go,combo 2x12 plus 15" cab.became way too heavy, but it was a humdinger allright,of course, using a small amp as monitor is allways a good idea, BTW,Anyone tried the Helicon Vocal monitor, the one that mounts on a mic.stand ?

Got that a few months ago cause the Genz stays at church most of the time. Really like the Ashdown, much smaller and kind of retro, lots of dials.

Location: Michigan | I start by plugging into a 12 foot high Marshall Stack. It has a 1000 Watts per channel with a stereo fuzzbuster nutcrackers assbleeders power center with twelve , yes (12) 28 inch power wooffers and (36) 12 inch tweeters that are
pre-amped by a dozen 1960 Fender Twin Reverb amps. That sound system seems to meet my playing needs on Sunday mornings at my church.
The last time I cranked it up ( March 28, 1979 ) past the volume setting 3 for a concert I did in Middletown Pennsyvlvnia the nuclear plant called Three Mile Island had a Meltdown.
If you need any info on a setup like this contact a guy here calling himself Lanaki.Hope that helps . GWB |

Location: Buffalo,NY | I probably should consider using my good PA but I didn't even think about it. I've got a Allen and Heath MixWizard 16:2 with a Quest 3002 amp going to 2 Peavey SP-3G's. So in mono I could push 3000 watts !! But I only use this PA for practice as we always hire a soundman. But i probably should give it a try ??

Sounds like Nice Equipment doc.,put the speakers on stands, well above earlevel,Nice for the audience ,speakers now unblocked will reach far,and as a bonus,Feedback will hardly occur, easily controlled, of course,a good soundman is allways appreciable :)

Vic  It has really worked out well. I have not gotten a speaker stand yet. The feet would extend larger than my alloted space. Right now I have the drummer on my left and 2 trumpet players on my right. We just added an electric guitar player. He has so much gear that some changes in our setup will have to be made. I might put the amp on a mic stand which would take up less room but would not be as stable as a speaker stand.
The amp really does have a great sound and enough power. |

Location: Scotland | Bose showed the new version of the L1 at Frankfurt. Much smaller and lighter power stand with all tone processing from a small satellite unit rather than built into the base unit. This new unit has 4 mic or line inputs and addreses the constant complaint of lack of reverb and effects in the original L1. It´s compatible with channels 3 and 4 of the original model. |

Location: Vermont | Dr.Tom, I reiterate... I would go with the Peavey PA heads. It depends on how much you want to spend of course...and how much attention you want or need to pay to the PA while your performing. For simplicity, price, performance, and reliability Peavey is a leader. Unless you have an engeneer or a soundman and have more money than you know what to do with,I would stick to the Peavey of which you already say you love the sound of. Plus your mikes etc. will use the same system so you won't need a separate one. I've been playing out for over 40 years and I've never found a room or club with "ideal" sound accoustics. The simpicity and reliability of your equipment will help to allow you to play with enjoyment. This will help you to sound your best. Keep Pickin' Bob |
