Location: SF Bay area, California | I've put up some detailed pics of my '87C. My bridge appears different than others, not having the wide saddles. The bridge has an insert for a narrow blade. To my eye the insert matches and is original, but I would like other's opinions.

I don't have much webspace, so will probably remove these pics after a couple of weeks.

Location: SoCal | Now that's interesting. It looks like somebody drilled out the p/u slot, then filled it with a walnut blank, then cut a new slot for a regular bone saddle. Does it have a p/u in it? It looks like the OP 24 preamp is still in place. | |

NICE GUITAR :) and that saddle/P U looks exactly like my 1617,with wooden block and all, after a German Luthier had removed the old PU,He told me that he had used Original Ovation parts,( originally it had "wide" P U`s ) I did not believe him ,but it works, and I needed it (was on tour at the time) but the signal strength had increased ,does your guitar also have a strong electric output ? Does it have a Tone control ?
it was before I knew about this board, and the possibility of contacting the factory,...Did you purchase it New,or Used ?
Looking forward to hear more about it :)

Location: SF Bay area, California | The pickup is functional, what is visible under the bone blade is a blue foil. The preamp is the OP24, with 3 sliders for EQ, all functional. I've not compared the output level to my other acoustics.
I bought this guitar about a year and a half ago, and haven't done anything but polish it and give it strings. The last owner played bar gigs with it, and he got it from a friend. The case got some stencil-paint ID marks that suggest it had done some traveling.
Note the glue drop on the label.
