I recently changed to my set of strings (which are still medium phosbronz d'addario), and the G is now making a buzz when strummed hard, and the buzzing happens when playing all up the fretboard on that string. This didn't happen all that much on that string from before.
I tried putting some paper at the nut and at the bridge just to raise the G-string higher, and I am able to remove buzzing from an open G, but as I play notes up the fretboard, there is still a ton of buzzing from that string.
Should I make a truss-rod adjustment? Change just that string? |

Hi pzavislak,it could be that the strings have n`t "settled in" yet,so that the string in between bridge - saddle is still a little curved, try pulling the strings, then hammer away ( strum hard )..then Re-Tune,might want to that a couple of times,if that still does n`t work try with a piece of felt in between string and saddle,I`ve encountered this thing, and this worked
for me....

| I had a similar problem with buzzing: I tightened all the nuts (they were all very loose) on the tuners and the buzz went away. Maybe that's where your problem lies? |

Location: chicago | Recently I had the same problem and tried every angle to fix the buzz...on my g string as well, when it did not go away i pulled all the strings off to notice one or two of my frets in the 10 and 11 fret area had popped up off the fret board so seeing as how my ADII-5 1769 was 14 months old I brought it to a authorized repair place and wrote John Budny a very courtious email explaining my concern...His response imeidiatly was tell them to send me the bill they know what to do,and if theres anything else you need please let me know,my axe is fixed and the new action is insane!!!! THATS SERVICE.

Location: Chicago | I don't have any loose nut on the peghead, and I just put quite a bit of tissue underneath the G string at the bridge to raise the action dramatically, and even then, there is buzzing at almost all the frets on that string (most of the buzzing happens from fret 5-->13). All the other strings sound good.
I think this string is possessed. |

Location: Chicago | Same gauge, and everything as before. Medium D'Addarios.
If I need to make a truss rod adjustment, do I go from the peghead? From the bowl? Are there even two truss rod nuts in the Elite 1778LX? Do I have to go buy the official Ovation wrench?
I have to play for a group of people this friday (for Good Friday), and I really would like to have this resolved soon. :( |
