Location: boulder | dO i HAVE TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU?
Pre earth day party at fugots house.
Boulder, co. 80303 saturday april 21st...
noon till Dark (ya don't have to go home-ya just gots to go)
Here is what I have to offer..A grill , some grill foods, a cooler, some refreshments to be kept in the cooler...a back yard, a bunch of guitars!! Actual musicians may be there.
Ok , my house is not huge, but as long as we're just acoustic- I see no problems  , well unless 1000 people show up.
If you think you can make it, post here in this thread. (It will also give me an idea of if I will be sitting by myself, or if i should warn the neighbors) I will pm folks back with directions. (Essentially i live off of Baseline road and foothills parkway, about 1 mile east from CU campus).
That's it. Just a get together. What's everyone think?? peace mike

Location: Colorado | Enjoyed it - even if it was for an hour...there were some very nice guitars there...upon reflection..it was weird - while we were playing something...and I had to flip my guitar up so I could tell which guitar I was playing...pretty weird since at that point in time they were all slotheads - either ReI's or originals. |

I took that as SLIGHT hint that he might POSSIBLY come out t'visit some kin . . .
Mebbe next time.
Bill, I was gonna call ya' yesterday t'find out where your son was working & take him out t'lunch (we were up 'round those parts). Then I figured why in the HELL would wanna lunch w/some ol' fart???
Jeanette & I had a FABulous time!!
Many thanks t'Stephen & Lia for dinner last night.
Got t'meet the Professor and his LovelyLady.Thx,Guys!!!
ElginAcres
THANKS for the car!!! I LOVE it!!!! ;-)
And to the EVER generous Fugot and his WONDERFUL ExtendedFamily for the EXcellentFood, Guitars & Company!!! THANX,Bud!!!!!
I think we gotta plan a RockyMountain/SouthWest Regional GetT'gether in the future. The hotel here has been GREAT, is VERY reasonably-priced, is QUITE accomodating, and has a lounge with a STAGE!!! (We've also gotten in "good" with the owner;-)
ThanksAgain, All!!!! |

Cliff sounded great and led the charge although I think he felt the effects of our very dry climate...(although some tequila helped immensely with that.....thanks Jeanette for being the instigator of that little side trip!)
Thanks to Mike, we showed that the Colorado museum of fine O's & A's is alive and kicking. He has some outstanding guitars (if only he would keep them close to tuned! )
The only non-O's were the Tak classical that Cliff brought and the Baxendale 12 fret 12 string cutaway.....which stayed in pretty good tune despite the changing weather until ProfessorBB started banging on it!
It was great to get everyone we could reach together all in one place....and at the end of the day we were treated to Mike's friend Mary who wowed us all with her playing and singing.
Her version of "Chain of Fools" by Aretha was just outstanding. |

While all these guitars were wonderful to hear and play, we were all really amazed when we went indoors and heard the booming sound of the 2080/12. |

For a 12-string, THIS thing just STONKS!!
When you're just "strumming" it, it's not unpleasantly "boomy" . . .
. . . but when you get ON it, this thing just thunders!!! |

We didn't get around to trying this one out til almost the end of the day, till someone (YoursTruly) FINALLY muscled-up the gumption t'get this thing tuned-up . . . |

Just wondering when the idea started taking a reality turn.

First , many thanks for a great time. I had such a great weekend i went to the mountains on sunday. And then jumped right in to watching two godsons while their parents are off in costa rica..
I think the rumour is next spring we are having a rocky mountain OFC gathering, and having it at the hotel where cliff stayed. A stage. a pool, and lots of time to plan.
thanks again for making a good memory-have a great day everyone, peace mike |

Mike had about a dozen-and-a-half top-of-the-line Ovations/Adamases lined-up along the walls of one of the rooms in his house . . .
All JUST taken out of storage.
All detuned.
All devoid of batteries.
LOL!!!
(at least they had strings on 'em;-)
The hotel was really cool, and really cheap ($69).
Located right at the foothills of the Rockies, nice indoor pool, and a really nice bar w/live Blues Thursdays thru Sundays. Jeanette and I "hit it off" with the management, and I'm pretty sure we could convince him t'use the stage for jams before the RealMusicians show up . . .
I was thinking that it's "somewhat" centrally-located (to the region) and it might be cool t'do a SouthWest Gathering (maybe in the Fall when the aspen trees have turned).
Maybe get the folks from Colorado, Arizona, California & Texas t'gether . . .
(well, . . . maybe not the Texans . . .) :D |
