Just a first stab at it, but check out:

http://www.takaminegallery.com

This work in progress will be a tribute site to the wonderful Takamine EF75 guitar that has been raved about on this board.

If you've got something to contribute just let me know.

Dave

PS: Look for Collings and Martin sites coming soon. Rather than pollute the Ovation Gallery with these crapppy wooden boxes I figgered they needed a home of their own.

Tupp, your pics really look excellent. Nice home page. It will be interesting to see how many non-OFC owners jump in on this.

That's a beautiful tak. I look forward to seeing your other gear. Martins are definitely the big kahuna of guitar collecting, there'll be lots of competition (and fun) there. As far as I know, for taks and collings, people generally buy them for playing, so the time may be right to start collecting them. Good luck.

Cliff, cliff, cliff ... That is WAY below your usual standard of witiness. But if you MUST know, the majority of my guitars don't even HAVE pre-amps. Dave

PS - since this thread is about Tak's, I must add that the palanthanic pickup and direct out pre-amp they put on the EF75 is VERY, VERY nice.

Tupp, will you be adding a place for owner reviews, or will such comments be included in one of the other menu boxes? I've been using mine almost exclusively for the past three weeks. Most of the comments on these forums have been about the EF75J's great sound, but what amazes me is the comfort and ease of playing. One of the songs we're doing this week requires a lot of strumming with seconds and suspended chords, but the last eight measures are all adagio picking, which is more my style. Folks are coming up to me, complimenting me about the sound, and asking questions about the guitar. They rarely ask about the Viper or the 1581 (except to comment that they thought the latter was covered in leather!). The Tak EF75 really allows players to elevate their playing quality a notch or two. I am really pleased with it.

Yup, Reviews will be on the same page as the owners registration list. I've got quite a lot of stuff almost ready that's not posted yet. Hopefully before the weekend. Bill hooked me up with the Tak product manager who was instrumental in the design of the 75 and he has been a HUGE help with details. The spec list will be like NOTHING you have ever seen on a kaman guitar site. I think I even have the thread pitch on the strap button screws!

I can dispell a couple of questions: you have seen these listed as EF75J and EF75S. It's the same guitar. Tak calls it an S and kaman calls it a J, or vice versa. It's the same. Neck width, you've seen it posted as 1-3/4 and 1-7/8. It's really 1-3/4 by design, but it's a little on the "fat" side. Probably 1-13/16. Some of the brazzy is lighter color. The original batch was the darker color. That's the older stuff. The guitar started getting popular (ie more than 50 orders), so they went back for more, and the second batch of rosewood is lighter color. The inlaid Tak logo on the headstock is actually Koa. According to another source, Tak has one of the largest stashes of high quality Koa in the business.

Just SOME of the tidbits you'll find on the site once it's all released.

Dave

Actually, according to a source at TAK they originally planned fewer of these but demand from Europe was stronger than expected so that bumped the total up to around 80. Jerome, you need to start looking for a bigger apartment!

I really love the sound of Takamine but the neck is hard to play for me.
That's why I don't have anything else than O's.

I'm not thinking to change to another apartment but I'm in vacation since few days and I decided to clean up my "Music Room".
It's amazing how many sh%@ts I had in this room...
Broken things, old papers and so many stuffs more like that.
I will put some paint on the walls and put my guitars in this place.
They deserves a good place and my living room is full... :D

And a sofa!!!
By this way, I will be able to have guest without sleeping on the floor.

If one of you is near Paris, just send me a call... ;)
Don't come with your guitars, there's enough at home!!!

J :)

Jerome, you owe it to yourself to locate and try one of these. You may be very surprised by the feel of the neck. It was one of my biggest concerns about this guitar and now I find it one of the things I like most about it!

Do yourself a favour and try it!

As I understand it the Brazilian version is not available in Europe unless it's a USA model that has wandered over there.
