Location: New Hampshire | Hello, My name is jon,I play the acoustic guitar. This is a great site I just recently found... I have a question, I am thinking about playing bass with some old friends but have never really got into electric guitars only acoustic so if I do this I want an acoustic I was thinking.... well I was checking out this great store I found in ME and he has a mint 72 typhoon V model 1217-5 (-5 black) H997 with the original hard shell case.
This bass is nice... original even has the string mute (black) actions nice, seems in great shape. So my problem is I do not like waisting money, if I buy some thing I like to know I won't loose but with this deal I do not even know what this bass is worth... so I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out with a rough guess. I am gonna go check it out again this week and will take a few pictures and post them later in the week, but just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about these basses...
seems like they should hold there value seeing they were only made in May & June of 72, I wounder how many were made...
Thanks for any input.

Location: New South Wales, Australia | G'day Jon and welcome to the OFC. I'm down here in Australia and I too am an acoustic player although I've recently joined a band which requires me to "plug in" and I'm loving it.
I don't know much about bass guitars, just wanted to welcome you, but someone here no doubt will be able to help you.
You won't believe the amount of knowledge and friendly assistance that's here. |

Location: New Hampshire | well hello, and thanks for the welcome, yes I hope someone here is able to help me out before this jem is gone... I forgot to mention the reason I was drawn to this bass is I was born in 72 and I play ovation guitars! seems simple enough.
Thanks again |

As basses go it's OK, really depends what kind of music you're playing and how cheap it is.
Oh yeah, how much it speaks to you counts too. |

Location: New Hampshire | Well I personaly play agressive folk, blues and some rock, but will mainly play rock & heavy blues with these guys, which makes me wonder if with this body feedback will be an issue at higher volumes.... we will mainly be playing barn partys.... Do you have any idea of the value of a bass like this ???
200-400, 500-700 800-1000 or higher???
Thanks for you input! |

Location: 6 String Ranch | The value is whatever anyone will pay but I'd guess that bass should be in the $250-500 range. As far as feedback, you'll just have to try it and see. |
