I'll start with just a couple off the cuff suggestions...
Here Comes the Sun - George Harrison
Classical Gas - Mason Williams..sorry Glen |

Location: Tampa, FL | I agree with Crimson: ANY Pink Floyd piece.
But this is harder for me than it appears to be for other members because for me, there may not be "an all-time best".
There are so many songs that could be the all- time best and when I think about each one I begin to relate certain experiences of my life to them. Maybe I'm not able to find a best experience and therefore, I'm not able to determine "an all-time best".
I would add there have been recent conversions from earlier electric releases into acoustic pieces that I heard that were done very well. Though not as impressionable in my later years as my youth, I'm impressed with some re-releases in acoustic form.
Then I return to Rain Song played by Jimmy Page, I mean, wow. Now so many run through my mind right now. Even back to Boston...yes of course, Boston's Boston. I mean, come on! That rocked.
"The best?" That's like asking me what's my favorite movie of all time is.
But, a very worthy question to pose! Thanks for a trip done memory lane. Whoops! There's Van Halen! I got to get out of here!!!! |

Like aceboympk my favourite acoustic songs change from day to day and it's impossible (for me at least) to put one definitive song at the top of my list. |

For partially acoustic there is Dog and the Butterfly, Silent Lucidity, In Thee, The Intro to Crazy on You, The riff of Alone Again (Dokken). |

I know it's an Aussie 'anthem', but I know some of our US brethren are familiar with it.
And I've recently discovered Bruce Cockburn. (Where have I been? ) and "Wonder Where The Lions Are" is a GREAT acoustic song.
Hey Oz, looks like your taste in (or lack of :D ) music is VERY similar to my own. Maybe we can stop off next time I'm travelling through NSW. My sister lives in Muswellbrook and the rest of my family is in Wollongong. You're about half way and it would be nice to see one of the other 6 US Ovations in Australia. ;) |

Not technically aggressive, but when asked what I think acoustic guitars should sound like that's the track that always comes to mind.

What guitars did they use to do this with? Hmmm... |

but Mason Williams version doesn't make me crazy and doesn't motivate me to play 4 hours on guitar- after coming back from 10h/day work.

Location: Marlton, NJ | Glenn - I was playing around with it for awhile today. It really is such a pleasure to play all of those fingerpicking songs that I'm having such a hard time with on the steel strings. It's got a nice balanced sound unplugged. I like it alot. If I didn't just pick up the Country Artist, I might have been reluctant to send it back. I did strip out the old electronics. I should've tried it plugged in for comparison sake. Oh well. I'll send them out to Jason on monday.
Next step... RotoZip.

When I mention him as one of my favourite guitarists a lot of people say "Don who??"....and that's even from Eagles fans. Mention Don Henley though, and they know all about him. |

"Sundown," Gordon Lightfoot.
Just about any of James Taylor's early classics, especially "Fire and Rain," "Carolina In My Mind," "Sweet Baby James," and "Something In the Way She Moves." The intros to these songs defines what is meant by a "hook."
Neil Young -- take your pick. :D |
