well we just got back from our MOIST day on the Indian River, and our benefit event for The Sea Turtle Preservation Society.

we were able to raise over $1000 for them with the Benefit Auction even with the rainy start, and 20% of the vendors bagging out due to the weather.

there were 2 OFC members in attendance, myself and Slydog, and I was properly decked in OFC cap, t-shirt, and 1885-NB5-87

all in all was a great day! live performances, and educational and fun activities for all.

attendance was under 1000 for the day... compared to over 4000 three years ago... but still was fun, educational, and productive.

Sounds like a great day Glenn, and a worthy cause. I hope that $1000 is well spent.

we have over 4100 members in our combined groups here:

brevardfreecycle

it is almost our groups 3rd anniversary in our communities, and we are the original freecycling/reuse communities for our county.

when we started this there were less than 100 freecycling communities in the world, my wife Charlotte helped promote and build it to what it is today... and was the database administrator for the entire .org early in it's existence.

today there are over 10,000 freecycling, freesharing, and sharingisgiving groups worldwide and their counterparts and sponsors and friends.

we left TFN also known as the Freecycle Network at freecycle when they took it away from it's original grassroots base with local interaction and influence and went to a corporate structure, accepting questionable funding and implementing creative board and spending practices.

lot's of fun.... but I'm tired today.
