I posted this in another thread of mine, but not as it's own thread. I never got an actual answer.

The question is:

Is it possible to replace an ovation saddle without replacing the pickup or any electronics?

Apparently it depends which type of saddle/electronics combo it is. So, my guitar is an Elite 1778t. It has an OP30 preamp if that makes a difference. That's all I can say until I take these strings off.

A nut.

Nah. It's getting worn down in some spots. I got it used, and there's a few spots next to every string where somebody put the string before and it left an indent. It gets kind of annoying.

Plus, I had the nut replaced, and now I have a white nut and a black saddle.

it depends if its a thinline or a opp saddle. i belive the thinline is a undersaddle and the opp is the wide one with the pup molded into the saddle......jason

If I remember correctly, the saddle sits in a gold tray. Between the gold tray and the saddle there is a thin metal bar connected to a wire. That's the pickup, I think.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the saddle lifted out of the gold tray all except on one end. Like a crocodile mouth.

If I can replace it, where can I get a replacement?

i'd recommend not to put full e-mail adresess on forum. he'll get a lot of spam once search-bot will find that e-mail here. it should be changed to John.Budny@skipthis.kaman.com
or something like that.
