Hey guys, its been forever since I have been on this forum.
I used to own a Ovation 1867 Legend, but unfortunately had to sell it.
I wont say what I have been playing lately.
Anyway I am in the Emergenza Acoustic Hero competition where I will be playing an Ovation and have a chance to win it after the gig based on my performance.
so I may have another soon.
the winner of the local competition gets flown to NY to compete on a national level, the winner there goes on to Germany to play the Taubertal Open Air Festival in front of aprox 50,000 people...that person wins a custom Ovation made for the festival.
Hoping to see you guys again soon ;)

Nice, Billy. Very easy to listen to, without being "Easy listening" music. When you win you'll donate the Ovation to one of us Ovation fans, who are really obsessive about Ovations, right? Post some songs with the Ovation on your site. It would be interesting to compare them to the songs you did with the Taylors.

Well to be honest, "Love Hate Thing" is done with the Ovation 1867.
"Think" is done with the Taylor GS, but to be fair "Think" is a pretty Lo-Fi recording where Love Hate is done more pro.
If I win the Ovation I plan on keeping it...nothing plays as well as an Ovation, and I like the sound plugged in.
The main reason for the Taylor use is that most of my stuff is played unplugged or with a loud band in which case the ES system on the Taylor is impossible to feedback....so it works well in a rock band situation.
Thanks so much for the great compliments, it is appreciated more than you know.
Here is a link to the competition in case some of you guys want to get in on it next year.

Just kidding, Blaze. Bad sarcasm is my specialty. I didn't really think you'd be here if you didn't like Ovations. I thought about you when I was playing a Taylor at GC. It was nice, but I couldn't help thinking that I didn't like it any more than about 4 of my Ovations. The 4 of them probably didn't cost as much as the Taylor.

Nice to see you back Billy ... now we've got to figure out a way to bring you back from the dark side. ;) Looks like the career is going well ... best of luck and please drop by as much as you can. Do you have a myspace page?

I do have a myspace as well but to be honest, I just suck at myspace..lol
I dont even know the URL, my wife manages it.
I don't know why since I am frequesnt on a lot of websites but MySpace is just foreign to my thought proccess.

I had to liquidate much of my guitars and amps to buy the Taylor GS, it's no secret they aren't cheap...and I had to deal with Bob Taylor personally to get a problem fixed with the original one I ordered but it's a fine guitar for what I use it for.
The guitars to chose from if you win the contest are....
This Takamine http://www.takamine.com/?fa=detail&mid=1330&sid=65
or this Ovation http://www.ovationguitars.com/index.cfm?fa=detail&mid=758
I am also looking into gettin a Genz Benz Pro amp

Lanaki, just watched your YouTube vid.
You are a fantastic player!!
I wish I could play like that, that style of finger picking is just foreign to me but I hope someday I will find someone that can give a play by ear musician some pointers on it.
it's beautiful

Hey BB, that Tak's 'control panel' looks pretty busy. It looks like something from NASA.

"The best way I can describe my music is a blend of rock, folk, country, and blues." You sound like my kind of musician, Billy.

Oh... and Randy, we're all still waiting for the next 'Lanaki On YouTube' installment.

hey billy,
thank you! i wish i could vocalize as well as you do.
i ain't makin' excuses but my singing ability seems to be diminishing with age coupled with volcanic particles in the air i breathe.

so, muzza, mahalo for your perserverance and patience! i'm gettin' there..
