I gotta say I don't have a guess. I really don't see any new advances coming up worthy of the concept. They could come up with any number of cosmetic variations and call it a collectors guitar but I hope they don't do that. I'd rather see them skip a year.
There sure was not much excitement generated over the 2007 collector.
I guess we'll find out in about a week. |

How about an honest to goodness Collectors' SERIES!
Similar concept to the Book series: Do a set of features available across their product line that includes numerous instruments like slot-heads, 12-strings, mandolins, mandocelloes, vipers, VXT's, and what the heck...include the basses.
I'm big into aesthetics and less-so into tech advances. So I think exotic woods and trim would be fun. I love the idea of a koa mandolin with center soundhole, but they've already done a koa guitar. So how about tiger maple, or good mahogany, quilted maple, walnut, or some of the crazy-grained south American rosewoods. Even if they're panel masters, it'll still be fun to break from the "two-toned
with a single-piece, inlaid epaulette" designs. Wood trims would be nice too. As would a little more inlay. I don't need a lot of bling, but a little would be nice!
I love the Collectors' concept, but admit it's gotten a little predictable. Come on! Go hog wild for once.! :p
Would I buy one? You betcha, if I liked it and as soon as I hit the lottery. Otherwise, I'd wait a few years while I continue my endless, ambush-predator-type lurking on eBay. ;) :p |

I really love your previous idea from another post.
A VXT with lots of cosmetic upgrades and a very nice color like blue (I love blue... ;) ) or green (I love green too...) will be a great guitar.
I'll be so happy to have one!!!

Gotta wait until the Guitar Center Exclusive agreement is done. |

Textured top non cutaway in brown or beige, handlaid deep bowl, Adamas I epis, Wideneck with UTE-Slothead in walnut, wide centerstripes in three-times maple, acoustic only... Hey wait, that is my custom order!
Okay, they will again release somethin very mainstreamy... Again Elite-Style, in exotic wood, my guess. Good enough to stand the urge to buy it.

Just like the 2006 and 2007. |
