Hi
I need new tuners on 1968 Tornado.
Ovation has Kluson Vintage replacements
(like orginals) or Schaller gears available.
Thoughts on which are better and why??

StewMac has gotoh replacements for the Klusons and they are pretty good. Try them.

Not to confuse things, and I don't know if they'll work for you, but I really like Planet Wave Auto-Trims. If you monitor it you can get a new set on ebay for $43.00.
I like these because they are stable, have a fine tuning ratio and I don't have to mess with cutting strings. Very good if you need to replace a snapped string in an emergency.

Of course, my other favorite tuner company is schaller.

All those are good and if you want to switch go ahead. They are probably better. I think the Gotohs will fit in the same screw holes and all that, that all.
