I'm terribly confused. A guy I know runs a booth in one of these antique/junk malls and has been talking to me about an early Ovation guitar he has he thinks I'd like. I haven't seen it yet. All I know is that it has serial number 240 and is an early electric acoustic model. So, it's from 1966, but over the phone he couldn't find a readable model number.

Any advice? He seems to think it is worth $1200 and would be happy with $600 from me for it.

Thanks to anyone who can help me figure this out.

Ovation didn't start building acoustic electrics until 1972. I don't know what the 240 is in reference to. Can you get a picture of it and post it?

An old shiny bowl with an aftermarket pickup maybe?

Is the 240 on a paper label in red ink?

Sadly, I have not seen this thing as of yet. It is all a mystery to me.
