They just wait for it to burn out then follow it around for 30 years... |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Back in the 80's, I loved it when the Dead came to Red Rocks for a weekend concert series. The Deadheads would follow in their busses and junkers and camped out along the creeks in the foothills and wherever else their vehicles broke down. Life was so much easier back then. |

Location: cincinnati, ohio | I remember when Jerry died -- you could see these 50 something Deadheads who were just devastated and lost. Think about it for a minute -- they had based their ENTIRE LIVES around this guy and his band. Now it was gone, just like that. Thirty years down the drain. Can you say, "Get a life?" Talk about a wake-up call! |

| Grif - I think it was The Holy Modal Rpounders.
Little Feat only ever recorded music. (At least while Lowell was alive). |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I only went in to SEE the Dead once! At Watkins Glen. But that wasn't indoors.
But I went to dozens of Dead Concerts. Often days before the Dead played. And then didn't even try to get into the concert.
The Party is in the Parking Lot, man!
Actually, the Grateful Dead chose their venues by the availability of a Party Park at the site. No Park, No Concert.
That is why they played the Kaiser Auditorium in Oakland, CA more often than they played the Coliseum. And the Kaiser held about 5000 people, with another 10,000 getting stoned it the Park.
They would put speakers out every year when they played the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Last concert of that year's tour.
Yeah... There is Nothing Like a Grateful Dead Concert!
I was sad when Jerry died. But I didn't cry. And I know people who did! Now these people are just trying to capture a bit of their Youth. But you cannot buy that moment, with everybody moving to the same music... And Mushroom Tea!
And I was enough of a Jerk to say out loud,
"Now who are the Deadheads gonna follow around?"
(I suggested Phish) |
