At my house! It showed up today, and Sam's reputation is intact. This guitar (as he calls it a 9.8) would have to still be at the factory for him to consider it a 10. It's in better shape than most all I've seen new at GC, and its almost 25 years old! (can you tell I'm a little excited?) I have to say, Sam was VERY easy to deal with and very patient while I was seesawing back and forth on this purchase. Thanks again Sam, and to everyone else, if this guy has a guitar for sale... JUMP ON IT!! :D

Randy, I don't think this one will be leaving my sight for a while. Which reminds me,...didn't you have one of these at one time?

If I played any part in talking you into it, I am glad to have been of service. I think I'll go home and play mine now, but it's 80 and the golf course is on the way home, so maybe later.

Copy that Mark, I kind of like golf too. And thanks for talking me into this one. I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't for your input. The only bad part is I parted with the 1614 to do it. Speaking of golf, the last time I hit a couple of good balls was when I stepped on a rake. :D

Congratulations Jim.

I had to put my 1537 down for a minute just to add my name to the list.

They are soo_______////))-----((((\\\\\\_______!!!

Waiting for pics of the new (old) baby.

How's it compare to the 1614? I was watching one on the 'bay, but it got away on me when I had visitors show up yesterday.

Man thats a tough one. I think the 1614 was a little brighter, but the biggest thing was the neck width. I got used to the narrower neck, and I was having problems going back and forth between the two. Not having it here now, I can't give you an A-B comparason on sound, but the 1537 feels a lot better to me.
As for pics, you see one, youve seen them all....Actually, I can't get my server to display pictures for some reason. There are pics of it in "guitars for sale" thread in sell/trade from Sam. Trust me, the pictures don't do it justice at all.

The 1614 and 1537 aren't all that comparable in sound. I like whichever one I'm playing better than the one hanging on the wall. I haven't been able to play both at the same time, but if I do, I'll be able to shut some people up who ask that stupid question, "Why do you need more than one? You can only play one at a time?" Morons. Sorry, Dear.

Glad to hear you recieved your new(old) guitar
in one piece! Sorry to hear you miss your 1614
so much, but at least it's in a good home.
BTW Jim, I think that cleaning and polishing,
and restringing a new(old) guitar is a bonding
kind of thing...you didn't leave me much to do!

Yup. Add the 1614 to the long list of "guitars I should never have sold"
At least I know you gave it a good home and will take care of it.
You're still a guitar thief.....

Jim, if you're using XP, try this - Image Resizer.

Works with a right click in explorer, gives you options on size and gives you a resized copy so it doesn't mess with the original (unless you tell it to).
Or you could just open it in Paint and use Attributes/Stretch-Skew.
Or you could just post the link to it.

Yeah, I've got more image software than I know what to do with, but I didn't think I sent it that big to my site in the first place. I'll try to restrain myself from now on. Thanks John

A "fireplace" in Florida is a euphemism for a crematorium . . .

I knew it was just a matter of time before someone started on my fireplace. We actually use it quite often during the winter months. I know some of you (like Norse) will scoff at this, but if it gets below 60 deg. we fire it up, even if we have to open the windows. BTW Grif, the ser. # is 301868. Thanks for reminding me to register it.

grif,
it's all relative. 60 degrees in hawaii feels quite chilly to the locals who live here. i guess the same would be true for tropical florida. there are a few fireplaces here in the islands. they are not used for cremations though, like jim's. here, we just toss 'em into the volcano.

Can't help you there Mike, I've got 4 different image programs on my computer, and every one is different. The Microsoft paint program is very easy to resize with. I've just been uploading my pictures to shutterfly, and they automatically resize them small enough to post.
