It's sad. What's sadder is that I know people that would think that's cool, and would love it. The same people that say that I need to get with the modern times, and stop playing that old fogies music.
We're truly a hip hop nation, whether you like it or not. |

If someone can verify it happened in the US, I'd love to know where and when. I'm pretty sure someone at the local child abuse prevention office would find a use for this link that was even more indignant than our posts. |

iggy pop would cut himself on stage
morrison alledgedly exposed himself in miami
janis drank from a bottle of southern comfort
bird coltrans miles etc were all heroin addicts
ansley dunbar alledgedly liked young girls
the mudshark incident
how many bands passed around joints on stage.
I am not saying that this behavior is correct I am just noticing that it is not the only type of outrageous behavior.
maybe we just target it more because it is rap and we don't like the music? |

They go outta their way to numb themselves to their own actions.
To avoid any semblance of Common Decency.
Then they get all bent outta shape when they don't get the Proper Respect!
[Yeah Al... It also annoys me cuz Rap Sux!
But it wouldn't happen at a Pink Floyd concert.] |

Location: Campbell River, British Columbia | I'm sorry, I have trouble with a bunch of aging rockers (which many of us are/were) being offended by the actions of a performer on stage.
Given the excesses of our own idols in their day {if vid phones had been around then, how many would there be of Mick Jagger screwing groupies (even as young as 14!) on his way off stage?}with Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n' Roll and an ethos of "Live fast, die young, leave a beautiful corpse" how can we (the royal we) get self-righteous enough to criticize the excesses of the next (plus 2) generation?
Oh. Wait. It's coming to me.........we got old.
And hypocritical.
Well, awright then.

My reason for posting is the MUSIC ("music"?): I think 30 years of hip-hop is enough. 30 years of a genre with three themes: "I f***k you", "I kill you", "I'm superior to you (rhyme/money/chicks)". I would be willing to endure Akon or any other mutant if hehad a "Gimme Shelter" or "When the Music's Over" or "Close to the Edge" or "Birds of Fire" or "Fun House" or "Pearl" or... or ... Gotta go take my Geritol. |

Hey, when I was young(er), Disco Suct! Now Rap Sux.
And I will still agree with Al and Fillhixx...
The fact that I don't like Rap has alot to do with it.
Iggy Stooge rolling around in broken glass and inventing Stage-Diving was cool. Alice Cooper hanging himself was cool. The concept that Keith Richards could even stand on stage was cool. Ozzy is just an idiot, and he says that he never ate a doves head.
I'll admit it... Unless they are rapping about finding Jesus, or at least getting an education, anything the rappers do annoys me. |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | As bad as most rap is musically, I still think (OK...hope) most hip-hop performers would draw the line at dry-humping youthful strangers on stage!
The sad part is that this child is now forced to live with the consequences of her youthfully misplaced idolization. (And I don't just mean a video that has been widely circulated on the internet.) I've intervened with too many such individuals (male and female) who were suddenly shoved into such a perverted, full-blown perspective of adult sexuality. The truly tragic part is, despite the video, this event is still reasonably anonymous; which puts the child's family in the position of rectifying their daughter's experience in a healthful and recuperative fashion. Surprisingly, there are a lot of good, capable parents out there. I sure hope this girl's folks are up to the challenge.
Frankly, this child and her family need prayers as much as anyone else that this forum has so ably, and nobly, supported. |

Also the girl should be grateful that humiliation and some rough handling was all that she suffered. Imagine if she had been foolish enough to accept an invitaion back stage or to a party after the show. Don't get me wrong, this guy is still a pig, but kids (especially girls) need to learn that the world is full of pigs.
As other's have commented, some of the rock stars from earlier generations were complete pigs as well, but often kids will not believe this until they see it with there own eyes.
I really hope the girl wasnt overly traumatized, but I'll bet that she wont be climbing up on stage at concerts any time soon, also hopefully her tastes for rap music will be somewhat diminished. |

Sharpton going after the cRap/HipHop Community would be like committing Political Suicide.
It'd be like Bush going after BigOil, or Hillary going after SensibleShoes . . .
What I can never figure out is, for someone who "marches" at the drop of a hat, Sharpton REMAINS the FatBastid that he IS . . . |

Fillhixx, you're right, we should be tolerant of wild behavior. It's just the f@cking noise that goes on with the behavior these days....... |

Doesn't mean I like it, either the performance OR Rap, I just have trouble getting all self-righteous about my dislike. I've said it before; Rap fulfills the first law of Rock 'n' Roll. Piss off your parents!
Dumb stage behaviour?
A local rock band (most of them, married with children) would give a free t-shirt to any female who would get up on stage and put it on. Untold dozens climbed on stage to rip off their top and bra, waggle for the crowd, and put the t-shirt on.
It's just a matter of degree. |

As George Orwell showed, unless we call a thing what
it is, we can neither think about it clearly nor oppose it.

Things like this are just evidence of the moral decline of this nation and the world in general. What would you think if that was your daughter up there. As I said before, the end is near. |
